Prom Ride

I don't mind a b grade horror movie every now and again this one was ok. There is a twist in it but the acting isn't that great. It's a b grade horror movie what can you expect.

Annoyance #1. I am no fan of hand held camera techniques a la 'Blair Witch' and find them annoying.

Annoyance #2. When a musical dance sequence a la 'Glee' is inserted in a horror movie for no rhyme or reason, I find it annoying.

Annoyance #3. Scenes that are stretched to unbearable lengths for filler a la the forced dance scene, I find annoying.

I give the movie 2 stars, plus one extra for the male and female nudity, of which there was much too little, which I find annoying.

I watched the movie with somewhat of a lower expectation as the movie's budget wasn't on "Independence Day" levels, that said, I was pleasantly surprised by how good "Prom Ride" turned out to be.

I'll not get into many details about the plot to avoid spoiling it for others, but I can say that the acting was not bad at all and I thought the movie delivered well. I have to say, Deanna Pak's performance stood out the most.

If there's such a thing as scary and fun all in one in a horror movie, Prom Ride is it. I had a few laughs, and I also had my heart rate to increase. A good movie does that.

Would I watch "Prom Ride" again? Why yes, yes I would.

The film starts off with a tonne of sugar, sickly smiles, false hugs, it's so overly sweet that after fifteen minutes I wanted them all to get slaughtered. It is so disjointed, and distracting to watch, the format is dreadful, so old hat, and that music screams fifteen year old girl's playlist. The moment we get the shift up, literally thirty minutes, I'd overdosed on sweetness, and nothing was going to make up for it. Every cliche ticked off, no phone signal, masked killer, disguised voice...

If you can get through it, well done you. Thank goodness for fast forward. 3/10

The idea behind this was good and it started really well. I felt like the acting was pretty decent up until the 'horror' started and then it all fell apart.

I don't care what they say, this is not based on a true story because it's too ridiculous. I know it's fiction but the storyline was way too far fetched to be even a little believable. I mean the reasoning for the hijacking (the fake reason and the the real reason) were so silly it was laughable. Throw that in with some bad acting and it just didn't work. And it's a shame because there was potential there.
