Woes

As a HUGE fan of The Chosen, the entire Season5 sadly... didn't meet the usual high standards of this wonderful (overall) production.

This part 3 of the Last Supper (3 episodes) were especially non-engaging and non-emotional for me.

*Scenes going back in time, the intent of production was to help us identify with each disciple in a unique way... I don't feel that was accomplished. No emotions were drawn.

*The back and forth between Last Supper and current events was unnecessary and took away the importance of the event and caused a major disconnect with the importance of the last supper between Jesus and his disciples.

*Lastly, the leading up to the Garden of Gethsemane as well as the experience in the garden was so elongated and non-emotional. Even some of the props, including the rock, didn't look real. Somehow, I was not able to work up any emotion about that experience, which was supposed to be intense, sad and stressful... I felt that the writing, directing, props, and even acting, wasn't producing any of those emotions in me.

If you want to go to the theaters to watch any part of this Season, I'd suggest the 2nd part. It was definitely worth it and was the only part of this Season that was well written and portrayed on screen, fulfilling the intensity of the temple confrontation and emotions.

Sorry to disappoint my fellow "The Chosen" fans... because I assure you, I AM one of the most avid fans of this entire series. I'm simply saying: Seasons 1-4 were superb! Season 5... didn't meet the previous, usual standard.

Jesus decides to have a final preaching to the crowds of people in Jerusalem while the 12 try and understand his messages as they get the feeling this journey is coming to a close.

A strong episode, the second half of the episode to the end is brilliant, Jesus wants to preach and is getting grilled by the Pharisees, trying to trap him in his word as he knows he won't lie. How Jesus delivers moving speeches here are so drawing.

There was a a sense of doom, knowing what is coming is quite moving and sad, you can see the almost struggle he has with what's coming, the disciples all getting worried.

Good episode, this season is a highlight as we get a lot of Jesus so far on screen, he is the centre of this season, 8/10.

I have been an avid Bible student since I was 21 years old. Prior to that I lived my life without caring what my Creator thought about my choices. My Bible study has only increased in the 40 plus years since I first started reading the Gospel accounts.

I know the Bible very well and am thoroughly enjoying The Chosen series. Naturally, since I am so familiar with the Bible account, I have some opinions about this series. I believe it is important to point out that less than 10% of each episode of The Chosen is actually from the Bible accounts. Ninety percent of these episodes are embellishments; the producer's ideas of how the Bible characters may have spoken, looked and acted, beyond what is written in the Bible. I have no problem with most of those embellishments. As a matter of fact, I appreciate and enjoy much of the non-biblical inventions by the writers of this series.

I would like to speak about the good and the not so good embellishments created by the writers of this series. I hope you will not be offended by my critique.

Season 5, Episode 3 - Confronting the Jewish religious leaders

The episode begins with the final Passover supper as do all of season 5 episodes and those scenes are always done very well in my opinion. Then we see the conniving attitude of the Pharisees and Sadducees along with Joseph of Arimithea's strong defense of Jesus. Then we have Jesus condemning the hypocrisy of the Jewish religious leaders, also very well written, even when they deviate from Scripture there. The glaring exception being that of the make-believe character of Cafne leading a group to decry Jesus instructing his disciples to pay their taxes to human governments but to give their lives to God. There was no shout of condemnation for Jesus stating "give Caesars things to Caesar, but God's things to God" in Scripture. That bit contradicts Scripture (Matthew 22:21-22) and I was not happy to see the writers do that.

Biblical content 10% - Matthew 21:23-43; 22:15-22; 23:1-39; 24:1-14; 25:1-18; Mark 13:1-23; Luke 21:5-11.

There was a little disconnect for me in this episode. I didn't love the writing on this one so much. We went from Hosanna! To doomsday real quick. And I felt as confused as the disciples. At times Jesus acts like everything is fine and dandy but then in the blink of an eye he is yelling like a god about to explode out of his mortal body then lives up to his title Man of Sorrows. Again I feel as concerned and confused as the disciples. Not sure if this was intentional.

All n all Jonathan is really hitting the mark. The emotion at the end was just superb. The song was lovely adding to the emotion. Didn't understand though why he looked confused when David wasn't there.

The back and forth between Jesus and the disciples was good. And seeing the ground work being laid for the people to turn on him is interesting.

The roots of perceptions and attitudes. This seems offer this season. You know the facts; their explanations, the truth and right before facts - it real matters.

The try of Apostle to understand His behavior in Temple market. The confrontation in Temple and the familiar accuses who sound so radical by what you know. The questions of Apostles and the answers who are far to be less than obscure.

And, indeed, the intro - part of The Last Supper and the young shaper singing as consolation for his Lord . And the cold air after.

You know the way of events. The season offers the chance to feel it.
