Bagatelle

I greatly enjoyed watching Bagatelle. It's a beautiful, thought provoking, incredible witty, quite philosophical, and profoundly human cinematic tale about life and destiny. The filmmaker was able to deliver powerful and poignant messages to the audience in a very short stretch of time using modest cinematic tools and supposedly a meagre film budget. The messages provide meaningful and insightful commentary on how artists or people who have a spiritual connection to the world around them respond or react to ordinary and commonplace experiences like moving to a new country, changing occupations, facing everyday difficulties, and finding love in the most bizarre circumstances.

The story is so recognizable, palpable, yet interesting and uniquely told that the viewer has no time to feel disconnected, bored, or left out of the narrative that embraces and identifies with whoever the audience maybe regardless of cultural or any other type of background.

Great job, Bagatelle!!!

I did not expect such a low rating for this nice little work of art. I've seen many films with ratings below 6/10, and Bagatelle is definitely much better than that.

I'm not pretentious enough to claim that I fully understand the film, but I am amazed by the cinematography and the dreamy, abstract imagery. Also, this is not the hardcore type of surrealism of Jean Cocteau. It is indeed very cute, and I can see it as a very accessible surreal short for the audience.

What an amazing job! I was thrilled when I was lucky enough to watch this film. Perhaps I experienced the same delight only once when I watched "Amarcord" Fellini for the first time. If you want to see a real work of art, you should watch Bagatelle. Daniel Levin is a true master and an amazing storyteller. With true Chekhovian drama and love, he easily, and naturally guides you through the short history of a small group of people connected by one cause and simultaneously reveals to you the depths of tragedy and irony of human existence.

This film certainly deserves the attention of the general public and the most sophisticated film connoisseurs!

Very much enjoyed the film. Excellent cinematography and I loved the films ability to capture being in a land where one is an immigrant and is unfamiliar with the language.

No spoilers here. The location, the lighting and the Texas backdrop, makes for a very good short film.

I wish there was a little more Russian dialogue, but that is just my opinion. L did not take the time to read the other reviews, I wonder if the actors actually played the instruments in the short film. Also the choice of antique cars was excellent
