Kuma's Life

Greatest fictional character ever.. literally have been waiting for a back story like this for a while. This story has made me tear up ever since it aired a few weeks ago. The history behind Kuma being a buccaneer runs deep in Caribbean history. As a Puerto Rican that is big and built like Kuma , I couldn't help but fall in love with his character. This is the type of character that makes you see a different perspective in life . Even when like throws hell upon you , you must stay kind and endure the pain. Kuma will always be my favorite character in fiction over all, I can't wait to cosplay him at the next con.

This is how you must feel when you're reaching out to understand a character who seems random-but really isn't random at all.

I just watched an episode that had no fights or action. It was pure story and emotion, focused on relationships. Great job, Oda.

I haven't cried too much and felt so vulnerable since the funeral of Going Merry , the story telling, the animation, the music were all just perfect . All those episodes explained so well the life of Kuma, a tyrant that wasn't what it seemed but completely the opposite The build up of this character and those episodes was impressive and outstanding. Even though i had seen the last scene with Bonney on Manga the last 5 seconds really destroyed me .... This is the reason why I love One Piece and since 2025 started Toei is cooking again 🔥.

When I first read the manga I was moved. One of the few times I've ever cried for words and pictures on a page. I believed I would cry less for when the episode came out in the anime, but I was so wrong. From the stunning visuals that Toei have been consistently providing in each episode, to the music, impactful and thoughtfully integrated, to the tragic story itself, expanding upon its source material and presenting it, evolving it in a way that makes the engage with whats playing out on the screen, unable to take their eyes off the vibrant colours, art styles and narrative.

Painfully Pulchritudinous. Unforgettable. This is the story that I fell in love with all those years ago. This is One Piece.

This is easily one of the saddest character stories in all anime. Seeing all the suffering and pain Kuma endured - every detail perfectly revealed, connecting the dots from past arcs - truly deepens the impact of his actions. It explains why he did what he did for the crew. His countless sacrifices gave Bonney and the Straw Hats the chance to live freely, something he himself was never allowed. It's heartbreaking to witness such an adorable and kind soul endure so much cruelty, yet still choose to be a hero rather than a villain - even when he had every reason to turn bitter. Kumachi, you are and always will be our beloved hero.
