The actors here tried. But no one can replace a beloved iconic figure like Sir David Jason. And Catherine Zeta-Jones absolutely glowed with unique and natural beauty - fresh, honest and clearly destined for a great future. The aura of the post-war 1950's was palpable in TDBOM, even though that original was made in the early 90's. Here, it feels forced, contrived and inauthentic. A sad result even though most of the cast are professional and well-meaning. But the writing, directing and decisions made by the producers simply don't add up to a winning series.
