I remember seeing the original and thought it was a low budget, dumb super hero movie. It was the 80s and when I say the cheesiness was thick, I'm not kidding. It was a lot of fun with the gross out humor and T and a for the teens in the audience.

Here we have more nostalgia than substance but it quite honestly worked a lot better than it should. Peter Dinklage is the Toxie character this time except it's not him in the suit just a voice over. There's bad guy Kevin Bacon and annoying Elijah Wood as his side kick. For the most part they kept the generalization about how toxie came to be. It's been updated with far better make up effects and a more accurate political undertone.

Along the way you just have some wild fun and the crowd I saw this with ate it all up. Now this isn't for everyone so if you're not a fan of the original or not into campy humor than skip this one. If you just wanna relax and enjoy a wild movie than this is a good time.

I first saw this at a neighborhood theater $1 theater back when America had those. Those theaters were sometimes neighborhood Grindhouse that showed the movies kids like me at the time shouldn't be watching but we did anyway.

Anyhow, I found it at the pawn shop on blu ray for $1 and grabbed it. The story was an uneasy one to watch back then and I have to say it still was unsettling now. The revenge part of the movie is what I found myself rooting for. Vicious and violent men who flat out attack women get theirs in a life changing way. At least it's humane compared to what folks say they really deserve. Uncle Phil James Avery makes an appearance here too in an earlier role.

With all the social media and technology today one thing hasn't changed are the monsters who get away with the vicious crimes committed in this movie. Wouldn't it be nice to see a remake with an all star talented cast of actresses who take on the world's trash and clean up the streets one surgery at a time? This cult classic should get a remake with its subject matter but we'll see.

The story started out pretty decent with a character you truly care about. What's going on here? The lights and dreams are either real or just imaginary. I'll admit this could be one of the best thrillers to come out with a better story line and satisfying conclusion.

I'm a big fan of third acts where the big reveal is a WTH was that, moment. Here, it kind of just stops, like literally in the middle of the movie it made absolutely no sense. The third act just happens and falls apart at the same time. The big reveal is none. Nothing made any sense and you're left wondering if this was one of those stupid M Night Shamalan movies. Here, there's just nothing. Like a strong performance but no ending whatsoever and everything you saw is left hanging. Very disappointed and recommend doing something else with the money you'd spend to see this garbage.
