In this pandemic-era horror comedy short, a zombie outbreak is underway. Amusingly, the authorities' recommendations for surviving the zombie pandemic are strikingly similar to those given during COVID-19: wearing face masks, practicing social distancing, and so on. To round out the symbolic parallel, there's also a funny character who can only be described as a pandemic denier. The story is hilarious, and the zombie makeup is surprisingly convincing-better, in fact, than what I've seen in some full-length films.
Exposure provides a fresh take on an old trope-and the best part is that I truly didn't see it coming. Genre-wise, it sits somewhere between horror and horror comedy, thanks to the clever twist. Since the events unfold in a photographic darkroom, some younger viewers might not even know what such a place is. Darkrooms are inherently a bit eerie, but setting the unpredictable events there was an excellent choice. As with many short films, some context and background are left out, but the story remains easy to follow regardless.
In Corpus was a real surprise! The story is captivating because you truly can't predict where it's going. At first, I even misjudged the genre due to its body-horror elements, but ultimately I'd place it as sci-fi horror. The premise is simple: a man wakes up at night to find a strange glowing meteorite in his bedroom. But is it real-or just a dream? I enjoyed the story all the way through, including the ending which, once again, I couldn't see coming. Nicely done!
