This is not a great movie, just the kind of fun easy movies Hollywood used to make and we don't get anymore. The bad reviews are weird but in a sense that'e maybe people have now very high expectations from streaming ?
Anyway, it you liked the "National Treasure" movies with Nicolas Cage, this is the same kind, minus American history.
The cast was good, there was great chemistry, banter, nonsense, a good reveal of who was the bad guy (not a huge suprise but nicely done), and a great way to spend 2 hours.
Some things of course makes no sense but this is what to be expected from this kind of movies. I hope there is a sequel.

After 15 years I rewatched it all recently. I expected to be disappointed, but exactly the opposite happened. The actors, the writing, the cinematography - and all that for a fraction of what cost most modern series - are incredible.
What most people miss is the high culture of the writers and the thousands of references to litterature, philosophy, religion and science (or just pop culture) with deep thematics linked to the characters and the plot.
This series is extremely intelligent and ask for your attention to details.
And now for the more disputed things - yes they answered more or less everything. Some things directly, most of them in fact, many with clues in the series you just have to link and use your brain to understand.
But most people are not very bright, to this day you have those who believe that "they were dead all the time" when the series explicitely says the opposite, or others to ask "but what about the polar bears" one of the first mystery solved (at the beginning of season 2, and in more details at the end of season 4).
And the characters ! The arcs of the main ones are incredible. But nothing beats the chemistry between Desmond and Penny, or James and Juliet. If you don't cry at the end of The Constant (the best episode of the series) or during a particular scene in the final episode, you are not human.
