Why do documentaries these days have to give voice to the opinions of "famous celebrities" on any given subject. I could not care less about what a, so called, "celebrity" thinks about Jane Austin unless they are speaking about the subject as it relates to their acting.
Whatever happened to actual experts. In this documentary, as far as I could tell, there was only one - or maybe two - that seemed qualified to speak authoritatively about Jane Austin as a writer historically. The rest were fluffers to inflate this into three parts when it could have been one.
I would not classify this as a serious documentary. Which is what I really was hoping for.

Don't get me wrong, it's very good if you're judging it by acting, writing and production. But when it comes to pure entertainment, I found it quite snore-worthy.
These two seasons have shifted from, what started as a pure thriller in the first few episodes of season 1, to a rambling introspective semi-apologistic political commentary - told through the lives of quite unlikable individuals.
I found it hard work to watch. Especially with the insistence these days on multilingualism - meaning that much of the movie is consumed through sub-titles. Would it be so hard to provide an English only audio track. I mean, in non-English countries they don't have a problem dubbing all the English out - I am just so tired of reading sub-titles. It's called a movie, not a book!
