It's perhaps not surprising that the user reviews are low to high given the subject matter. And I don't think it matters, it is important this drama exists, it is a story that should be told. It reminds us corruption exists, how powerful the media can be and it must be investigated.

Those who know the scandal may not immediately remember exactly, or indeed know all the ins and outs of the saga. In fact at the beginning there's a lot to take in; there are many names that crop up, some well know, many not.

The drama walks two lines, of Nick Davies, journalist, doggedly seeking the truth and a long running murder investigation, both impacting on the personal lives of the protagonists, and others.

It's a superb cast led deftly by David Tennant and Robert Carlisle, together with Toby Jones and other very well known dramatic actors popping up every episode it feels seemingly wanting to do their bit though it's not distracting they all add to it.

Tennant is so good at breaking that fourth wall and it is obviously a device to aid the viewer, I went with it I felt it pulled me in, though some may not like it making it feel a bit more theatre play like and it's not done in the other strand. However, it worked for me.

The streams more fully come together towards the end naturally and I've binged 5/7 so far and really enjoying it. If you like movies such as All the President's Men and the Post you will enjoy this, it requires your attention as its intelligent and well written, highlighting all the threads, and very engaging for what could have been a dry story in the wrong hands.

Not often I binge watch a comedy, but this has made me laugh out loud so many times. It's, a, surprise hit for me, who knew such dysfunction could be so hilarious. I guess it is funny because we can all see things in it we recognise in ourselves or others. Josie brilliant character. Kat's performance and comic delivery is right on point, her pathetic awkward smiles and twisted body demeanor pure funny. Her mum desperate and super funny, her crazed deluded sister. Dev is just so awkward and cringetastic as is the boyfriend. Hope it continues, a great female led comedy of ultimate awkwardness with some great lines.

Favourite scenes include the pregnancy test, the trying to get sectioned by taking two paracetamol and the concerns about giving illicit drugs to a young girl of similar age. And the layers Josie wears on the boat trip cracked me up.
