Story telling is how we con­nect with each other through time and space. Our sto­ries are our legacy. We have long relied upon sto­ry­telling to help edu­cate our young. When women, who are 50% of the pop­u­la­tion, are under­rep­re­sented and mis­rep­re­sented, in our var­i­ous sto­ry­telling media, we are speak­ing vol­umes about what we per­ceive women's value to be. We are miss­ing an essen­tial con­nec­tion and we are edu­cat­ing our young to do the same. TAWC is work­ing to bal­ance out this inequity in order to enrich all people's lives. When we see our­selves in our sto­ries, we feel seen and heard and val­ued. TAWC wants to encour­age and sup­port all aspects of our indus­try, whether it be in front or behind the cam­era, to tell sto­ries that reflect our diverse selves.
