The concept of a movie that takes place within an audio commentary is one that director/co-writer Brian Ward had wanted to try for nearly 15 years. During his day job, Ward produces audio commentaries and bonus features for various Blu-rays and DVDs and he always thought this would make an interesting story, but never had the chance to try it until this short film for the 48 Hour Film Project - Los Angeles.

David Nett can be seen wearing glasses in only one shot of the movie. Because the film focuses on an absurd audio commentary, there were discussions around writing a line of dialogue to be spoken by the film's "director" that would retcon this mistake into a creative decision. But the dialogue that was already covering this shot was determined to be better, so the filmmakers let it go.
