I stumbled upon the 2017 short fan-made film titled "Fallout: The Wanderer" while perusing YouTube. And having been an avid fan of the "Fallout" universe since the very first game, of course I opted to sit down and watch this.
Sure, I wasn't really harboring a whole lot of expectations for "Fallout: The Wanderer" from writer Kevin Anthony Brooks and director Vincent Talenti, given it being a fan-made short film and all. But as I was unfamiliar with this particular short film, then the writer and director had every opportunity to impress me.
And color me impressed. I found the storyline in "Fallout: The Wanderer" to be good, and while it was just running at 22 minutes, then writer Kevin Anthony Brooks actually managed to put together a cohesive and entertaining storyline that puts the audience right into the storyline and quickly gets you up to speed.
The acting performances in "Fallout: The Wanderer" were fair enough. Needless to say that I wasn't familiar with anyone on the cast list here, but I will say that the actors and actresses put on good jobs in portraying their various Wasteland characters.
"Fallout: The Wanderer" felt and looked like it should, with the atmosphere from the games. Lots of nice details to be seen, even in the back of the scenes. Lots of things that were straight out of the games, so that was nice to see.
I will say that the CGI in "Fallout: The Wanderer" was actually fairly good for a project such as this. The radscorpions and the gecko looked cool and were nicely animated and rendered in texture.
If you enjoy the "Fallout" universe, then you definitely should take the time to sit down and watch this 2017 short fan-made movie.
My rating of "Fallout: The Wanderer" lands on a six out of ten stars.
