When I stumbled upon this 2019 Indonesian comedy titled "Lagi-Lagi Ateng" here in 2023, I had never actually heard about it. So I didn't know what the movie was about, aside from what I read on the synopsis. But with it being an Asian movie that I hadn't already seen, I needed no persuasion to sit down and watch it.
Writers Monty Tiwa and Anup Mirchandani put together a nice script for the movie. The storyline and narrative in the movie was good, wholesome, heartfelt and entertaining. So the movie definitely was well-worth sitting down to watch. It should be noted, however, that the storyline does tend to make use of some fairly generic tropes for a movie such as this, with it being a movie about twins that are separated as infants and accidentally reunite as adults, for better or worse.
Given my rather limited exposure to the Indonesian cinema, then I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie. They did, however, have some nicely talented actors and actresses on the cast list, and that helped bring the movie to life on the screen in a nice way.
However, while "Lagi-Lagi Ateng" certainly is a watchable and enjoyable movie, there just wasn't enough contents to the script to support more than a single viewing.
My rating of director Monty Tiwa's 2019 movie "Lagi-Lagi Ateng" lands on a six out of ten stars.
