Green Flake

I learned a ton and the music was awesome. Though I've belonged to the church that this movie features my whole life, I hadn't heard any of the stories that were told. They were so inspiring. A lot of powerful examples of what it means to trust in God and love him with everything you've got.

The soundtrack was powerful-a lot of incredible music. I'll be listening again for sure. It did feel like the movie ended in the middle of the story; I felt several plot threads got started that didn't have time to finish up. And I also had a hard time sometimes following the time jumps (just keeping it all straight in my head.) But I would recommend this to anyone who belongs to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and to anyone looking to be inspired by a story of faith and sacrifice.

Important Story so I Recommend but the direction was bad, it kept cutting back and forth and actually UNDERMINED the story, we'd see the an result then cut back to the process- but over and over again.

So as viewer I was confused...clearly a new director, I wish they had gotten an experienced director.

Also the writing could have been better. Again these hidden or overlooked stories of incredible will to live/survive in black history/American history are so important.

I'm not a Mormon but this is a key story to literally the founding of the state...and the huge impact Green F. Had, against odds. ' So I'm glad movie was made.

I really wanted to like this film... but it was very confusing. There were confusing and frequent time jumps that did not help the narrative. The story required you to assume and guess a lot. I spent most of the time watching it confused.

Which is a shame. I really wanted to learn more about Green Flake this film just made me more confused.

It did prompt me to go read more about him on-line. I just don't understand why more work was not put into the screenplay. This was a missed opportunity.

The music in the sound track was good and the actors that portrayed Green Flake and Martha were pretty good too. The script was just very confusing.

The writing could have been a bit better, but in terms of the acting, the costumes, the music, the character development...I predict this movie is going to pave the way for bigger and better Mormon Cinema and will take our mythology to new depths. It sets a standard that hasn't been known, at least in my experience. The actor who played Joseph smith was incredible, too. I almost wept when he died. Everything was so understated-and therefore so much more powerful. And the casting of Emma made me not dislike her like other castings I've seen. It's really, really hard to write a movie that spans an entire person's life. More people need to see this movie.
