Clara Bow was a tremendous personality who Paramount relied upon to make money with their bad scripts. This is another example of that trend. Luckily the rest of the cast is very good too, so the film is fun, but if you begin to examine the plot, it all crumbles.
Clara is a movie star who misses her train at a stop, along with Skeets Gallagher, who is masquerading as his friend, a famous composer (Ralph Forbes). The two wind up married because they don't speak the language, and rather than immediately remedy the situation, Clara goes with it, and her new husband does too, even though he has only just met her, and has a harem of women waiting in the wings. Charlie Ruggles is a friend who wants to take a nap. The grand finale is a well-timed bedroom farce with slamming doors and hidden guests.
I saw this very rare film screened at Capitolfest in 2021.

Norma Martin (Clara Bow) is an American movie star in France trying to avoid the attention of men. Going to visit a friend in Southern France, she finds herself "married" to a playboy song writer Ralph Forbes (Larry Charters) she hadn't yet met. Some of his lady friends then show up.
Some very good sequences, but also some flat spots. Her "husband's" house is very Hollywood deco and some of the costumes are very good.

Made in an era where you had to be married to have sex, or you were considered a loose woman, Her Wedding Night is a farce comedy that highlights an American movie star (not a big stretch for the IT girl) visiting France to escape from her fans in America. Larry Charters, a B actor from the 30s then complicates matters by getting her involved in a fictional marriage. He is a playboy songwriter (great occupation if you can find the work). There are, of course, even more complications from some of Larry's current lady friends. Some decent scenes, but not long enough to keep our interest. Only fans of Clara Bow will want to see this one.
