Unfortunately, this show made my head ache. When Belle gave that guy advice about his car,I had to stop watching. Other transgressions: GASTON. God,the guy's dead. Let him rot in peace. Also,Belle's father stopped in and invented musical bread.
A way of teaching children life lessons in a fun, accessible way through the character of Belle from 'Beauty and the Beast'. This is lovely.
I really wasn't expecting the movie all over again. Now don't get me wrong, the 1991 Disney movie is not only my favourite animated movie of all time but one of my favourite movies ever, even after 10+ years I have never tired watching it. I first heard of Sing Me a Story with Belle, and having really liked the concept I decided to give it a try. Granted I am not the target audience as I am 18, but I actually really like this show, I think it is very sweet and well meaning. It is not as good as the movie, and I wasn't expecting it to be.
The animation is pretty good, not spellbinding but definitely not enough to make your head ache. And I liked the songs, they were simple and memorable, even if some of the lyrics are somewhat twee the melodies are sweet. The story lines are intriguing too, as I have said already I really liked the concept and there is enough fun in the stories and songs for kids to enjoy. The dialogue is ropey at times, but there are some amusing moments too, and the characters are engaging and quite easy to relate to. And the voice acting is noteworthy; Belle's new voice may take a while to get used to at first, but I recognised some of the voice actors from doing additional voices on various Disney shows and films and all do a good job.
Overall, not a bad show at all, and kids will definitely love it. 7/10 Bethany Cox

I hear too many comments saying that this show is strictly for the Barney crowd. If they insist on calling it such, then they haven't even bothered to watch a single episode of SMAS in its entirety.
Unlike 'Barney', 'Sing Me a Story' actually follows a similar format to that of PBS's 'Shining Time Station' in which the main centerpiece of the show was the lesson being told from a story emphasized to the TV viewers using the source material (in this case, classic Disney shorts from the past) whenever an issue or a problem arises that requires the help of Belle and the gang to help solve.
What I like about this show is that not only did it appeal to both boys and girls despite that its main character is female, but it also encouraged kids to read & use their imagination to tell stories to others around them. It is also a show like this that also have helped set precedent for 'The Powerpuff Girls' & 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' to find an audience & gain a cult following among its fans of both genders as the kids who watched it got older.

I have a 4yr old daughter who absolutely adores this show. I find it quite tiresome but I have to admit, it's not geared to me, it's geared to little kids. It's a neat format that brings all the old stories that we saw as kids back again in a new way. All the time trying to teach some sort of "lesson" eg, always try even when it's hard.
While I find Belle's voice incredibly annoying (It's not the same voice as the movie), my daughter gets sucked right in and before long, she's singing along with her. So it's a great thing to put on while doing the dishes, or something similar. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone older than 5 or 6, but hey, it keeps the kids happy!
