Without doubt the most atrocious film ever.
The "lead man", whoever he is cannot act his way out of a paper bag, the script is truly dreadful, verging on the illiterate and the direction is just comical in its direness.
Don't know when it was made but it's just so dated it looks like the camera work and sexual attitudes of the 1970s.
It goes from one dreadful sex scene to another, rather in the vein of a second rate porno made by a trainee floor manager.
There's some involvement with the Royal Navy, they must have died of embarrassment by now.
It said the release date was 2015, it must have been hidden for years since being made as everything is so dated, both in looks, history, attitudes.
The really awful thing too is that just when you hope and pray it's finished, it's hasn't, it goes bloody on.
Can only assume the director never worked again, please god!
Just don't waste three hours on this, it's AWFUL!

For those who have reported about the length of this TV movie, this was a TV series of 3 episodes first shown in 2017, turned into one movie.
Actually, I think that it works better as three separate episodes. And, you will not guess the ending.

James Weber Brown is an ex naval officer with issues, and now a Private Eye with a penchant for a rough sex. When various women he has bedded turn up murdered and mutilated, the police suspect him and he has to find the real killer.
Once a 3 part TV series and it shows with the first third really badly constructed and with a poor script. It does settle into relative adequacy towards the end if you can believe the fast and furious twists and turns, but overall pretty lame stuff exacerbated by a daft, unbelievable central performance by Weber Brown playing a completely unsympathetic, wooden character who women seem to adore despite the fact he is a total zombie. One or two nuggets, but mostly dire.

As soon as I reached near the middle of the movie, I wondered why is the action so de-calibrated; it was as if the scriptwriter(s) wrote a script as a contest of "making one twist over another" or was it really a script intended for a mini series. I had to log in to IMDB to justify my second guess.
Silent Hours is a TV mini series -it's PRIMARILY a TV series. For obvious reasons the production team decided to chop it out and make it a 2hr 35mins long film. As it happens with the 99% of similar cases, the outcome was bizarre enough. Took very long for each chapter to evolve, leaving a "hook" in the end which was not followed, until quite later on down the line. All these sex scenes, over and over; this is an exact trace of editing a much longer duration than the one the audience sees. All this constant undelivered suspense which ultimately in some scenes was not concluded or at least be unhooked properly. Last but not least, the edited dialogues in such cases only contribute to confusion in some critical points. I had to roll back 4 or 5 times, to catch up.
E.g. "Alexander" 's theatrical cut was awful, but the director's cut was a movie that made sense. "Das Boot" theatrical cut is poorer compared to the 3,5hr director's cut (the original cut of the film), which is excellent. And so on and so forth.
I found actors good enough for the vibes and atmosphere of the movie - no problem with that. Production was fine too. But I cannot judge anything else on this movie, as I feel I am missing a significant part of the original final outcome.
Would suggest to see the mini series first, then go watch the movie.

Yes there is quite a lot of intercourse in this movie (that funnily enough seems to also exist as a 3 part series too) - but don't get too excited. Or maybe do, especially considering that those scenes probably will be the highlights for most - no pun intended.
The acting varies if you are being kind. If not you probably will feel every cringe worthy moment ... maybe you can be forgiving, maybe not. Maybe you'll care who did it, maybe you don't. All that does not take away from the fact that something is evidently missing here (no pun intended again) ... and it is not nudity or blood - if that plays a role in your "enjoyment" of this movie ... I may be a bit too nice when it comes to the rating, but that is me mostly. So be wary before you embark on this adventure, because it's likely that whether you predict who did it or not (I think it is quite obvious) or whether you'll even be able to find one likeable character in this ... the one thing that is almost certain: this won't make it to many top 5 lists or will be rewatched by many.
