Inside the Rain tells the story of Ben Glass (portrayed by Aaron Fisher who also directed the film) who is a college student that suffers from bipolar disorder, depression, and OCD that is expelled from school after he is wrongly accused of being suicidal. Ben decides to appeal his expulsion and decides the way to do so is to make a film of the events that occurred to show his innocence. He then gets pornstar/artist Emma Taylor (portrayed by Ellen Toland) and failed film producer Montgomery (portrayed by Eric Roberts) to help him create the film.
Inside the Rain is interesting as it tells the story of those who suffer from mental health issues in the perspective of the individual who is suffering from them. I thought Ben's character was very authentic and the film portrays the difficulties of suffering from mental health issues.
My issue with the film is that the story is not all that great. I found myself bored most of the film as it is has very slow moments. It's not the type of film that I believe has a lot of rewatch value. I also did not think the acting was great. There were not any individuals who gave a memorable performance.
For these reasons I would say the film is slightly below average - 4/10.

It was actually a fun watch. It moved nicely and the story was fun to watch. I think Aaron Fisher did a great job in writing/directing/acting. Rosie Perez played a great role. Maybe Eric Roberts wasn't needed in this movie and only put in for name recognition. I rated 5 out of 10 because it was watchable and put together well and I rate very low on movies.
There are 2 flashing red lights that should warn would-be watchers. The first is that Eric Roberts makes an appearance. The last good movie the man made was Runaway Train in 1985. He now makes an average of 2 flicks a month (flicks vs. films) proving that Quantity = NOT Quality. My guess is the majority of the budget went to his 1-minute appearance. The second warning sign is the number of awards this flick boasts on its web page. Research shows an inverse correlation of minor awards to actual quality/watch-ability. Acting as passable to poor; story was solidly poor; comedy was sorely lacking as was romance and any real drama. While I applaud the efforts of amateur flick-makers for their drive to get entertainment made, I also appreciate it when what they make is actually entertaining....
Story itself is ok but just how the dad mum and son appearance not fit at all. Cast someone with right looks is very important, I can't logicalize cus of it. Adopted son please mention.
A fair amount of screen time centered on a male college student's interest in sex & romance which shouldn't be surprising. As to his mental state perhaps a little spectrum disorder; a little bipolar; a little of a bunch of other issues, but none too egregious. Then too, we don't know how much his medications were moderating it all. I liked the parental love & support. The counseling sessions seemed movie dramatic.
