I have tried multiple similar shows recently and, as a victim of past coercive and abusive relationships I have struggled with how misleading and disrespectful the shows can be. To the point of damaging for those who may know someone in an at risk relationship.
Too often the victim is blamed or questioned for not leaving sooner. An incredibly offensive question when you truly understand how these 'relationships' function.
I have just watched episode 3. I don't want to add spoilers but I would say thank you to the family of Natalie, the professionals involved and the show creators. This was well done. My heart goes out to all experiencing or witnessing this behaviour. Don't just tell them to leave. Get professional support. It could save their life.

This show is excellent ! It just reels you in until you've binged the whole (and only) season so far. Sadly, as many true crime shows go, a majority of these victims are women. I feel like more people need to know how to defend themselves as well as carry some type of weapon or protection, not that anyone needs to be paranoid but in these instances, the "safety first" rule definitely applies. The impact of these atrocities is exponential. Honestly, these monsters deserve the death penalty and it just seems like that's becoming less and less of an option because of too many bleeding heart liberals. Yeah I went there. These innocent people didn't deserve the fates they met - the fates they were forced to meet and as far as I'm concerned, an eye for an eye.
I enjoy this programme and watching the stories unfold. They are often tragic, sad and disturbing.
It's a good show, but the ridiculous poses the people are made to do ruin it. They are forced to look away from the camera and then slowly look up or gaze wistfully out of a window. It's so cringey and put on, it actually ruins the interviews and has made me laugh out loud a few times. I would give it a solid 9/10 if it wasn't for this. It's very off putting.
Also, it can be a bit repetitive when the story is being told and they recap a bit too often to pad it out.

After watching numerous episodes, I see how troubled the majority of the parents are and are not teaching their kids correct life skills. It's their responsibility to provide for their children and it appears the majority of them are on governmental assistance. Very sad to watch these. I am impressed with the detectives and their ability to solve these cases. Why are these killers not given more time in prison. They are going to get out and kill again. These cycles just seem to repeat over and over again. I'm hopeful that the UK can get on top of this and give longer sentences to the convicted killers.
This isn't like your average neflix drawn out, boring docuseries. By that I mean that it's actually good! The cases are obviously tragic and would be enough by themselves to make even the most stoic true crime fan a little emotional, but the interviews with the parents and family were very real and moving. It's not overblown or overly dramatic and quite respectful which I liked.
I'm only a few episodes in btw, but I probably will watch the whole thing in a few days. When Missing Turns to Murder is a refreshingly concise production and hopefully Netflix will consider the positive reviews and try to match this kind of quality in future.
