Smiling Woman

This short horror film shares a similar concept with the 2022 blockbuster Smile, which itself was based on a 2020 short film. Interestingly, Smiling Woman was released as early as 2019.

Of course, the eerie, unsettling smile with sinister intent isn't a completely unique idea, but I couldn't help but wonder-did Smiling Woman inspire other short films? For example, the 2024 short Jinx bears a striking resemblance, replacing the smiling woman with a jester who haunts a passenger on an empty train platform.

From what I understand, Smiling Woman isn't just a single short film but a series spanning several years. It's a great concept, though I personally would have preferred an even creepier smile-this one feels almost too cute for my taste.

For a quick dose of horror, Smiling Woman is a solid pick, delivering eerie entertainment in under three minutes.

This short, despite only being a few minutes long, changed my life. The lighting and the spooky atmosphere created by the amazing director (shouts out to you Alex) really immersed me in the smiling woman's world. I felt so absorbed in the scenes, once the screen cut to black I felt blank, almost lost with nowhere to go. After a few moments of staring at the void i came back to my senses, but it was too late, smiling woman had already changed my life at a drastic degree. I rewatched it an estimated 120 times and every time I watch the smiling woman move and twist on my screen I feel even more encapsulated. Her yellow dress stretching with her changing shape completely hypnotized me as I watched the embroidery fold. The camera work, colors, acting, and sound effects morphed really well with each other, and the product it put out was outstanding. Any PUNK who decided that five stars was a fair rating for this cinematic masterpiece is despicable and delusional and doesn't know anything about real art. I am incredibly offended that you thought that anything less than a five star rating was accurate to the content provided, and the content provided deserves a rating of no less than 8 stars! Smiling woman CHANGED MY LIFE. Before i watched this series, i had social anxiety, i was incredibly shy, and my face was always blank around others. Aftwer watching this incredible showstoppingh series i learned to be my TRUE self. I now smile just like the smiling woman to other people. They might find it creepy, but i finally learned how to show my true self to others.....................!!!!!!!! The smiling woman is my one and only idol. My life has been completely transformed by this experience for the better. I love LIFE! My social anxiety has been 100% cured by the smiling woman. If u have social anxiety? Just be like the smiling woman. Btw thanks Dr. Brenda for recommending this film to me you just single-handedly cured all my illnesses.
