You should try checking this show out. In my opinion I do kinda think it is one of the better indie series on YouTube right now but it has A LOT of flaws that need to be fixed.
The first episode is pretty tough to sit through but I will admit the show does get more enjoyable overtime. There is also a lot and I mean a whole lot of unnatural exposition and it is painful to watch. In the first episode Alex just says a lot of exposition for no reason at all and it feels so dumb because those were some of his first lines in the show, and it wasn't even giving characterization for him it was him talking about his brother. He says he doesn't like his brother and wishes he was gone in the first episode then in the third episode he says he wished he had a closer relationship with him. While this is a common feeling, with this sort of indifference he has towards his brother being set up this means Arthur who is his brother has to carry Alex as a character because Alex can't really act on their interactions. Alex's character and role relies a lot on his brother as a character and with Alex as a character, he's a little boring and all Alex does to just say unnatural exposition or complain about his brother, that's all he's done so far hopefully they give him more in the future. Jazz and Maria share some unnatural exposition that comes out of nowhere in the fourth episode as well it wasn't built up and it felt so cringe Maria's backstory wasn't even hinted at before this moment. Hope makes an excuse to talk with her friends because Maria almost accidentally talked about how they stole guns in the previous episode but why does she even need to talk with them if she already stopped Maria... because of exposition that's why (Jazz and Maria are still good characters). The characters are overall pretty good but the best character in Interstellar Ranger Commence is Arthur Stepanov. It's kinda at the moment but he's so goated. He's a side character but is based, interesting for his own right and has some of the best lines from the show. I'm definitely interested in where they go with him the most so I really hope they don't waste him. He's been handled well so far and he has got a lot of potential as a character. If you'd look deeper into his scenes you'd see he's actually a pretty complicated character and I can't wait to see more from him. Hope is the main character, right now she is just okay I guess but barley has any real chemistry with anyone in the cast (other than Itsuki), her dynamics with them don't feel fleshed out and it's very rushed. She just met her friends in the first episode and now all of a sudden they're her main motive for staying in the second? I know the writers are just using that as a placeholder but that's kinda dumb to. We barely see them interacting it just feels so unnatural and it honestly feels like the writers don't even care about her sometimes. Itsuki is actually good, he's the one with the daddy issues trope similar to Zuko or Todoroki but with Itsuki there really isn't anything too too different about him, I'm waiting for something that stands out but he is still one of the best characters of the show and if they decide to actually explore his ptsd and not just shove it aside then I'll take back what I said. I don't have much to say about the rest of the class because there is honestly not a lot to them as characters at the moment, I honestly forget some of them exist most of the time from how little they do but they aren't bad or anything they get good moments.
This show is pretty fast paced. In the third episode Carmen and Hope fight but the only interacted literally one time in the first episode up until then and they were on good terms but during their fight they're acting like they have had multiple bad interactions. Carmen was only pulling the strings on the sideline making Itsuki train Hope but that episode made her an inconsistent character. Now she's a mean girl when we don't see her progress to that point and she was actually really good in the first two episodes.
There still are things I do really like. Like the tone, some of the character dynamics/drama and the concept are all really good. I also wouldn't call it boring so far. I'm still really invested in this world and some of its characters and it has a lot of potential to grow and improve. This is the type of show that can go on for a long time and have multiple movies and specials so I'm sticking with it.
