The first season was interesting and intriguing. It was a complete story and ended on a high note. There were plenty of plot holes throughout, but the viewers were kept fairly compelled to keep watching. The characters were strongly created and likeable. The plot, although the description gives things away, the write-up was misleading.
Season two is much weaker with more unlikable characters without any background for their reasons or how they do what they do. Of course, like many fantasy stories, the reluctant chosen one has no clue how to use his gifts. It makes a decent build, but it isn't satisfying by season two.
The new villain is more evil, but also annoying, so there is no real tension.
Watch season one, skip season two.
