This was interesting, gripping and pretty interesting watch.

Some of the 'stories' within the story were pretty interesting, while some a bit too cliched and melodramatic - but the sequences, especially all the dialogues were pretty good.

Towards the end, movie took a bit too much of a preachy line (which I felt was a bit of an overkill - the ending might have been sufficient - till then the movie was showing - rather than 'telling' - which I appreciated)

Some the ending felt a bit of too overreaching as well - with that teacher arc - totally unnecessary and felt out of place.

Maayakoothu is a refreshing crime-fantasy thriller that plays with fiction and reality in a smart, engaging way. At just 105 minutes, it stays tight and focused, driven by a clever script, sharp editing, and solid performances from Nagarajan Kannan, Gayathri, and Dheena.

Sure, it's not flawless-the production quality is limited, some emotions feel rushed, and a few character threads could've been better explored. But considering it was made on a shoestring budget of just 25 lakhs, the film is nothing short of impressive.

Finally.. Maayakoothu may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but it's a bold statement from newcomers who, with minimal resources, have delivered something far more watchable than many big-budget letdowns. A solid effort that quietly teaches the industry a loud lesson.

The direction by Raghav is brilliant - our friend has done an incredible job bringing such an interesting concept to life. The casting is spot-on, and the lead actor absolutely steals the show with a powerful performance. Another highlight is the music, composed by a talented woman - it elevates the mood of every scene.

Maayakoothu isn't just a film - it's an experience. From the first frame to the last, I was completely immersed in its world. The way it blends fantasy, emotion, and storytelling is unlike anything I've seen in recent Tamil cinema.

What stood out to me the most? The cinematography. Every frame feels like a painting. Whether it's the moody lighting in Vasan's apartment or the surreal moments where fiction collides with reality, the visuals are so rich and expressive. Sundar Ram Krishnan's work behind the camera deserves major praise - he doesn't just shoot scenes, he builds moods. There are moments where I just paused mentally and took in the sheer beauty of what I was seeing.

The performances are deeply heartfelt. Nagarajan Kannan brings so much intensity, and Aishwarya Ragupathi is a revelation - especially in the emotional confrontations. I found myself rooting for every character, even the ones I wasn't supposed to.

And the story... it's such a fresh concept. A writer haunted by his own creations? That's poetic. I loved how the film respects the intelligence of the audience. It asks deep questions about creation, responsibility, and empathy - but never gets preachy.

By the end, I just sat in silence. It's rare for a film to stay with me like this. I've already recommended it to friends who love cinema with soul and style.

Maayakoothu is a movie par excellence. It's unique narration, intelligent screenplay and riveting story telling makes it a must watch in theatres.

It's a story of a Writers confrontation with the characters in his writing, in a world he has created where the lines between real world and writers world blur. The writer goes in and out of the world's and yet the direction is so immaculate that, it all happens seamlessly.

It's a story of emotions, egos, desires, aspirations, conspiracies, guilt, crime, helplessness, hope and redemption.

It's a movie which touches on social issues, political abnormalities, subtly blending it with philosophy, fantasy and crime.

After the 1 hr 45 mins, you leave touched, entertained and introspecting.

Excellent performances from all the key characters, apt cinematography, great BG and music, a writing masterpiece and above all a work of art from the director AR Raghavendra, who has truly arrived with this movie.

Can't wait to watch the Maayakoothu he is going to unleash in the coming years.
