V & F

V & F is a fun and creative short animated film about the strength of our relationships. The cast was very creative in adding human emotions to inanimate objects. Vernell is a sweet sounding little vine that wraps herself around the unforgiving fence Frank. Vernell is ready to commit it all, but Frank is not as flexible, giving, nor committed to the relationship. The characters and animation are relatable and put a creative twist on this tale about relationships. It has a clear opening and ending with the audience flying in then out. This short had me smiling throughout its entirety. At under ten minutes, it's definitely worth watching!

V & F is a delightfful whimsical animation that projects love onto the physical world around us. In this case it's a flirty vine, Vernell, in a sweet-as-honey voice by Michelle Arthur, entwining herself around an unyielding and unapologetically immovable fence, Frank, voiced by Jeff Vernon. Naturally, this relationship has its challenges -- just like all human romances! Much applause to Arthur, also the Director/Writer, who very cleverly helps us understand certain realities with fanciful imagery from Vernon, the Animator/Film Editor, and magical music by R. Kim Shultz, the Composer/Sound Designer. It's an enjoyable and thought-provoking look at human relationships, which underscores the growth that can take place with our brief lives here on earth.

I loved the plot of this short film. I liked how there was still conflict even with something as whimsical as a fence and vine. I think the characters and their conflict was relatable. Getting over that conflict is important in every relationship, and this short makes it clear what love is meant to be. It is supposed to contain conflicts, but it's how you get past it all that matters. True love is something that is hard to separate, and this short makes that message clear. Applause to the voice actors, animator, sound designer, and director/writer for creating something really cool! How long did this take to produce from beginning to end?

This was a great short film that's both cute, funny, and heart touching. It uses the clever and useful trope of adding human consciousness to inanimate objects, much like Disney's "Beauty and the Beast," and takes you on a nice little journey through love, the complexities of competing for attention, the barriers that go up when ones trust is broken, and then how hard it can be to let those barriers go down and take a second chance at love.

The animation is fun and has a bit of a retro feel to it, and I'm very much interested in what Ms. Arthur has coming up with her future projects.
