The acting of the two lead characters, is really, really awful. Though you can tell when watching, that they are really trying. That's where the 2 stars in my review came from. The plot is so tired and silly, and chock full of plot holes. I am astonished that I sat through this steaming pile, to the very end. The younger of the two sisters in the film, is a very convincing imbecile. She is such an immature brat, that you're hoping the older sister slaps her at any moment, but it never comes.
Unbelievably Bad Plot, Script, Acting, and Effects. I'd suggest sitting this one out. Unless you have 80 minutes to waste, on being irritated at the stupidity of this film.

So, if you've ever wondered what it would be like to develop an eye twitch and what grinding your teeth feels like, by all means, watch this movie. If on the other hand that doesn't sound like a very pleasurable experience then you'll definitely wanna skip this one.
The ENTIRE movie is two, extremely annoying, terrible acting "sisters" arguing and bickering with each other to the extent of testing every single nerve of patience you possess in your body. The script is HORRIBLE! They do that stupid annoying 3 questions in a row back to back to back that NEITHER of them can even answer to begin with. For example, "who are they?" "What do they want with us" "Why are they doing this" all one right after the other and they do this VERY ANNOYING thing THROUGHOUT the entire freaking movie!
I'm telling you skip this movie. Bad acting, bad story, bad EVERYTHING! There is absolutely nothing, not one positive thing about this movie. Just so, so, so annoying! It's taking all I've got to get to the end of this just out of sheer curiosity to how truly low and bad this thing can really go.

I quickly grew tired of the bickering between the sisters. The Sandra character grated on my nerves like a spoiled brat and I wanted to slap her right off the TV screen every time she opened her mouth. If you're afraid of what might be out to get you in the forest then keep your voice down for crying out loud. She was so LOUD and all she did was gripe and blame, gripe and whine. I couldn't get through this movie to the end because Sandra was the most annoying character I have ever seen in a movie. I had to turn it off while they were still wandering around in the woods. The acting was amateurish and the storyline wasn't believable. Who in their right mind funds a movie like this?
Sometimes you just got to stop up and take heed from the low rating that a movie has managed to score here on IMDb. However, I opt to give a movie the benefit of the doubt, especially if it is something I haven't already seen, or heard about.
However, I found the movie's cover interesting enough, and since I hadn't already seen this movie, of course I opted to give it a chance.
Writer and director Anubys Lopez, aside from having a really cool name, didn't manage to do much of anything noteworthy here with "Those Who Call". The storyline in the movie was rather simplistic, and it might actually have worked out more if the dialogue wasn't so insanely repetitive and the characters were so amazingly unlikeable.
Actress Yetlanezi Rodriguez (playing Sandra) and Angie Sandoval (playing Ana) were given some very poorly written characters and dialogue to work with, and it just passed as being cringeworthy to watch the two characters bicker throughout the entire movie about how stupid their roadtrip was and how one doesn't have time for the other. And it was just like it was stuck in a loop, because the majority of the dialogue kept circling back to these topics.
Visually then "Those Who Call" was an okay movie. I mean, you're certainly not in for a top of the line over-the-top special effects galore here, but whatever effects were in the movie played out well enough.
If you enjoy horror movies, you need not waste your time, money or effort on "Those Who Call". Some of us did so you don't have to. Trust me, this movie isn't worth the effort.
My rating of "Those Who Call" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.

Here we go with another horror movie made for IFC. I see other peoples reviews are not very good at all so I'm certainly not expecting much. First off the movie is too short so there's a -1 Star.
Girl in car in woods on phone to start. Okay that beginning is lame.
Then I guess the main story. Two girls just 'passing by' in Colorado. Oh dear the gas station guy can't help them! Let's not panic! We're almost out of gas! There has to be a gas station around here somewhere!!! And so they keep looking, for gas.
Oh so they run out of gas then are stuck in the woods and they start seeing little hanging idols like from Blair Witch et al. Then they're back in a house and I didn't even notice how they got there. Talking about the Bible and how complex their lives are.
Then back into the woods. They find the body of the gas station guy! Oh no! Then they spot an eerie looking shack! Oh we gotta go in there! Then they see men in red robes and have to run into the woods!
The movie gets really dark at this point. Hard to see anything that's going on. But apparently the red robes catch the girls. And then...oh I wouldn't want to ruin it completely!
Horrible. Can't believe I made it to the end. 2/10.
