Good Grief

The never-ending similarities between this show and Six Feet Under cannot be pure coincidence. The plot points match up nearly exactly.

Have not laughed out loud so much at a TV show in years. Every episode there was a "hit pause" after laughing to collect myself. This is a brilliant, original show with great heart and inventiveness. Loved the characters, the cast and their chemistry. There's never been a funeral home with so much life. Beautifully shot and filled with Kiwi humor, Maori culture and actors, and quirkiness. Sisters Eve and Grace Palmer, the stars and writers, are powers to be reckoned with. As a fan of Jonathan Winters' (another comic great) "The Loved One" (1965), here's a lighthearted take, never mind the setting (funeral homes may be off-putting to some, but no worries here). Season 2 just finished here in the U. S. Hope for many more seasons, please! Brava!! Truly one of the best shows of the year we have streamed in 2022.

I found this show by chance on AMC and absolutely love it. The dry, subtle humor of this show is fantastic. I love the scenes with the twin sisters making jokes at each other's expense because it actually feels real, as in jabs they would say to each other in real life. The show does a nice job of balancing the sadness of death while remaining compassionate and funny. Although the plot and characters are completely different from the British version of 'Ghosts' there's something about 'Good Grief' that reminds me of it. The supporting characters add a nice bit of quirkiness to the show but the main characters, Ellie and Gwen, make this show one of my favorites.

This is a BRILLIANT series that takes place in a funeral home that's populated by a group of people who are just doing their best in the day to day business of dealing with people who need to bury their dearly departed. And it's riotous - in a very organic, understated way.

While I usually hate background music, the music in this series is an undertone to what's happening.

It translates well to any English speaking person, not just people in the Southern Hemisphere. So if you want something smart and fun. This is it!

But this series is absolutely a hoot. Short, compact episodes. Chemistry between characters. Subtle humor that actually had me slug out loud. I loved this series.
