Manner of Death

Manner of Death is a BL series that doesn't just focus on romance. It's a mix of action, mystery, and thriller, with a bit of romance sprinkled in, which I actually really enjoyed. The story follows Dr. Bun, a forensic pathologist, and Tan, a mysterious teacher, as they team up to uncover crimes in their town.

MaxTul's chemistry? Absolute chef's kiss. They bring this intense, mature energy that's honestly so refreshing to see.

What really makes Manner of Death stand out is the mystery. You're constantly piecing together clues, and the twists? Some of them are wild. It also dives into serious social issues, giving the story more weight than your usual love story.

If you're in the mood for a BL that's smart, dark, suspenseful, and packed with fiery chemistry, this one's totally worth the watch.

It can be hard to compare shows like this to others because the genre is still developing, and unfortunately productions tend to focus too much on fan service and often shy away from meaningful depictions of, well, anything.

Manner of Death manages to do justice to it's mystery / crime plot, deliver well developed characters, explore (if briefly) issues around reproductive rights, familial duty, sexuality, and abuse at different levels of society - and still deliver on the more conventional expectations of the BL genre.

It's not perfect and the last few episodes betray a sharp turn toward the melodramatic, but by that point I was solidly invested and, honestly, grateful for the effort put into this series on all fronts that i could forgive it almost anything.

This series made some great strides for the genre and I hope newer productions follow it's lead.

I was a Bright fan of BrightWin fame, then an OhmNanon fan, and now a fervent MaxTul fan all because I clicked on Together With Me (KornKnock) on YouTube. But Manner Of Death is incredible and on a totally new level. It's not the typical cliche BL series about school life. It's a suspense and thriller whose main protagonists happen to be two incredibly handsome, charming and suave men who fell in love at first sight and got caught up in a complicated murder mystery case. It's so good I binged on all 14 episodes in less than 2 days and crave for more - just like so many other viewers! And it's now showing in many countries and translated into many languages, and a new sequel series is coming up this year! Hope they have a new Manner Of Death season and a new Together With Me (KornKnock) season every year!

The twist the turns, the acting, the chemistry. It's beautiful. It's amazing to see two actors engage in their roles so fluidly time and time again. MaxTul are amazing together and keep you coming back for new roles, new shows, new movies. Go watch and be on the edge of your set how I was. Enjoy.

Only a small point is really missing from complete perfection. Otherwise, Manner of death is a perfect drama worth watching. As already mentioned in one of the reviews, crime fiction and BL don't usually go together, but that's not the case with this work. The relationship, or whatever the characters had between them, fit perfectly into the plot and without it, it might not have worked, since the situations were specially adapted to the two main characters. Unfortunately, I did not understand the chemistry between them. There were moments, or maybe rather specific scenes, where it sparkled beautifully, but then there were those where I felt like Bun was keeping the distance and actually didn't want them to continue with the relationship. Maybe that was the goal, who knows, and maybe I just missed something, that's why I don't want to deduct a too many stars since that's really probably the only thing that bothered me about the series. The rest, the story, the plot, the interweaving, the development of the whole case... Everything fit together beautifully.
