This the the worst of HGTV's programs. This is the show for white economic elitists; the Fords' and their clients reek of the same privilege, assumptions and lack of concern for money, and terrible 'taste'.
Each episode of this new iteration has made me more disgusted, as the weird creepiness of the Fords' dynamic is paraded in the 'banter' and camera-facing narratives. Also, Lee Ann is unable to see and hear beyond her own narrow ideas & palate (if white and black can called 'palate'). The Fords' have no appreciation for the character of homes they come to. Lee Ann first destroys whatever is in place - obliterates it, then she paints everything white with high gloss black accents. In the latest "Paris in Pittsburgh" episode, the Fords tear out beautiful brick walls and VERY high-quality and beautiful floors, and she paints large swaths of interior brick walls & fireplace white - which cannot be reversed. The result of this episode is a less functional house for a family with two small children, and reduces the value of the home. Of course the WASPy young entilted couple gushes in bemusement & befuddlement. They have little individual identity or taste, so they just reflect the irreality (not surreality) of Lee Ann's 'design' with generic platitudes from any typical issue of Architectural Digest.
HGTV needs to terminate this experiment, this creepy contrivance. Lee Ann Ford is the worst on the network, which is tough to do when they're also broadcasting Tamara Day and 'Bargain Mansions'.
