Vampire Academy

I had my doubts when I saw the trailer, but I kept telling myself "never judge a movie/show by its trailer", but I should have just stuck with judging this one because it really shows how boring and bland it is (trust me, it only gets worse if you watch it). The plot/storyline is boring, rushed and makes no sense whatsoever. When I say rushed, I mean characters are together with no build up and they move from one thing to another way too fast, and it makes no sense because there are things in this that need to be explained but they don't explain them or build up to them. The music doesn't always fit and is sometimes used when not needed, and it's too loud, you can barely hear what people are saying. I don't like to say bad things about people, but these actors are terrible. 😣 Bland, blank, 2-dimensional with no chemistry with each other. And because they have no chemistry, the romances are just awkward. I don't even know if you can call them romances. Maybe lust or just one night stands or something fits better? I don't know. The fighting reminds me too much of ballet and plays in general. It needs to look more real not practiced.

Overall, this was hard to watch and I won't be doing it ever again.

The subject matter is similar and most of the characters have the same names, but that is where the majority of the similarities to the book series disappear. The story in the show bounces all over all of the books picking and twisting the different events. These books were also for young adults and the content of the show is definitely not for young adults. I wish I had not read the books prior to seeing the show, maybe than I wouldn't be as disappointed. I read all of the Vampire Academy series books and then continued on the the Bloodlines series. I genuinely hope they do not attempt to convert those books as well.

Was very excited for this to come out. I read the books and loved them but........this show uses the books as a loose guideline. It is good I just wish I hadn't read the books because it ruins it for me since they are different from each other. Rose is not sassy whatsoever, the way the story plays out is very different from the book, and it seems very fast paced for this early on. Just once it would be nice if they used the source material and followed it instead of going off into another dimension. I will continue to watch and give it a chance; but if you have read the books just keep in mind this is a loose adaptation and does not follow them.

I saw that this had a low rating but I don't always agree with ratings, so, I watched the first instalment and I am pretty sure I will never watch another episode of this tragedy.

I expected young coming of age tropes but I did not expect it to be so humourless, so paint by the numbers, and a cast of characters I have zero interest in. Too much sorrows of the hyper privileged narcissistic teens played by adults.

I can not say anything positive about this. I believe they had a pre teen audience in mind when making this irritating waste of time and money.

I feel that this one is so bad that the actors will embarrassed to be associated with this bit of fantasy garbage. The writing is low end, the dialogue is stilted, and the plot is absurdly predictable.

I loved the vampire academy books growing up, but this series is basically unwatchable for many reasons and nothing like the books. The creators have used the names and title, but everything else is gone and that really ticks me off because pretty much everyone involved in making this series said that it was an adaptation with minimal changes... but keeping only the names and title means that they've done more than minimal changes and they lied to all of us books fans, which is a seriously disgusting thing to do. Did you all think that we wouldn't notice and would just watch this poor excuse of an adaptation? I can only assume you did, which means you are all severely delusional and need to seek medical help immediately.

As I mentioned above, this series is basically unwatchable even with being nothing like the books, and here is why...

1. Actors with poor to dreadful acting skills 2. Awful script

There is more, but those two things alone make it impossible to watch.

While I don't recommend this show, I do recommend the books to anyone that reads this review. It's an amazing story from start to finish with incredible world building and character development and much more.
