Vh1's My True Crime Story

I don't understand why the ratings are this low. The stories that they tell are entertaining and yes Remi can be a little corny and the acting seems staged but, overall the story line is great and thorough. I hope this series continues for years to come.

I was 'done' after one episode of this show, but I watched one more just to see if it got any better. Spoiler: It didn't.

The show opens with the line, "How far would you go to come up within a system built to hold you down? These are the true stories who had good intentions but got caught up by bad decisions."

If that's not a lesson on how to frame a story, I don't know what is. So, it's "the SYSTEM" that's holding these people down, because they had good intentions when they stole a bunch of electronics, and just got caught up in a bad decision, or rather...they simply got caught. Both episodes I watched framed the story this way. Glorifying the crime with some sassy narration as if crime is justified if it's filled with passion. Please.

Why VH1 thought this would be an inserting show is baffling. Unless they want to show all the up and coming thugs and con artist that they can get a on TV once they are caught and serve time for their crimes!

Love the narration. It's like watching a movie each week.

Remy Ma is not justifying crime or celebrating breaking the law. Her narrative provides a context for the situation. Many who criticize would make the same bad decisions when facing identical circumstances. The lesson is that what looks like an easy out may be the start of a worse situation. The people highlighted often have multiple times to go straight but their desire for something for nothing is their doom.
