Nearly all scenes were shot in Barjas and Ponferrada, which are in the province of Leon. Leon is not part of Galicia. Barjas is just a few kilometers from the Galician border. The landscape, buildings, and agriculture are very much the same as in the nearby Galician municipalities of Quiroga and Folgoso de Caurel.
The film was selected to be screened in the Cannes Première section at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, a first for director Rodrigo Sorogoyen.
Vincent Lindon was approached for the lead role of Antoine. He ended up not being cast, but made some remarks about the story that were taken into consideration in a script rewrite. Thus, he gets a thank you credit at the end of the film.
