Teen Wolf: The Movie

This movie feels rushed because it was. It feels like it was pieced together hastily from ill-fitting pieces because it was.

It's clear Jeff Davis was trying to write the movie even as he wasn't sure who from the cast of characters was returning, and who wasn't.

The best part of this movie is Tyler Hoechlin, and he's the only reason I watched it and the only reason I suggest anyone watch it. Somehow, despite juggling Superman and Lois filming at the same time (and having to switch between two different characters), he actually showed up. Regardless of what I think of Derek Hale's overall plot line in the movie, Tyler brought the best he could to the role, he brought heart and soul to an otherwise empty movie.

It baffles me that so many of the other cast feel like they phoned it in -- of course the writing utterly failed them, so it's not all their fault.

I understand why fans are upset, I understand why they feel let down. Because looking at Teen Wolf Season 3, you see the potential of these characters. You can see that with some actual care, the show could be great and if production had been allowed more time, maybe this movie could have been better since it's clear Season 3 was the inspiration. I have to think that, at least in part, this movie failed due to being rushed through to serve as a promotional tool for Wolf Pack, and nothing more. And sadly, it shows in nearly every frame.

I was and am a huge fan of the series. The series was a really smart fun take on a little known movie. Even as it began to run out of ideas I enjoyed the series. This movie is nothing but MTV's attempt to see if there's enough fuel for a reboot. Plain and simple. I am incredibly tolerant of entertainment I like going off the rails but because I like the ideas or actors I can survive it. I finished this movie only because I wanted to see if it would try to get better. It's like someone watched a couple of episodes disjointedly and tried to put in enough of the people and characters to make us nostalgic and then make us say "man I wish they would bring this back". I have rarely seen less effort (even down to the cgi) put into a project like this. I see why Stiles didn't come back. If you are the biggest Teen Wolf fan ever, don't see this movie. If you've never seen it and wonder what the fuss is? Watch the series.

Okay... let's start off right at the beginning of the movie, where we see a man in a hoodie with his face covered and we spent half the movie trying to figure out who that might be and when we finally do, it's just disappointing and it makes no sense that that man is brought back 'cause his reason is just stupid and quite fabricated. Then we have Eli, who doesn't have an explanation to how he's got here and who the other parent is, one of many lack of context plots in this.

Malia, who just like in season 6 didn't have ANY purpose in this movie but to be someone else's love interest. Then there's Scott... that you know, didn't change at all. There was no character development whatsoever and it's just getting old. And well, the last death of the movie was just... no.

There was so much repetition and the script didn't help it. Many things could've been explored, like Hikari's power, Liam and Mason's friendship, which was put aside and some other things that deserved more screen time.

I'm tired of being stuck in what could've beens so, I hope this is the last of it but I guess the movie is about not worrying about the past and to be honest, I'll do the same when it comes to what I just watched.

I think all valid points made by other posters about the story plot holes, but honestly I didn't remember how the story ended exactly since a few years have past from the last time I watched it.

The biggest boomer for me was that they managed to bring back almost all the cast except the one, that generally is considered the star of the show. Without him, humour was less funny and I also think he elevates the acting level of the whole group. It's like Batman without Batman or Black Panther without Black Panther (which Hollywood actually did)

If you don't care much about the old story and accept everything as told, it's actually an entertaining watch. Not bad for a low budget production which I guess was made purely out of nostalgia and love for the product.

Liked the ending given.

As a fan who came to watch Teen Wolf many years after it first aired I fell in love with the relationships and characters of the "Pack"

This belated re-visit misses the spot on so many levels. Lack of characterisation lack of creativity lack of drive. It all just feels thrush together and slapdash.

Dylan O'Brien and Arden Cho' absence is felt immensely and the return of Crystal Reed doesn't really work for me. Such a shame they just couldn't have just left us with the tv series original ending. This serves as a disservice and adds nothing to the shows history simple a poor epilogue of good memories long lost.
