This film actually won awards? Wow, I am lost for words here. Ok, let's move on. This adaptation is an insult to Lovecraft's story. (9 awards? Really?) Of course, let us use some female sexuality in here: naked, sultry, sexy, it will surely interest some people. They could have worked on the acting instead but no, sex sells. (There must be a typo with the 9 awards won.)
What is happening with films in this day and age? So much rubbish, no originality and films winning awards. It must have been a family and friends award night.
Stumbling upon the 2021 movie adaptation of the H. P. Lovecraft short story "Dreams in the Witch House" here in 2022, I needed no persuasion to sit down and watch this movie from writers Bobby Easley and Ken Wallace.
However, I have to be honest, while the movie's cover/poster seemed interesting enough, I must admit that I wasn't really harboring much of any high hopes for "H. P. Lovecraft's Witch House", since the majority of attempts to put Lovecraft's work to the screen has been dubious at best. But hey, director Bobby Easley deserved a fair chance with "H. P. Lovecraft's Witch House".
"H. P. Lovecraft's Witch House" is a mixed bag of nuts, so to speak. The production value in this 2021 movie is good, and that definitely counts for something. The storyline, however, well while it is influenced by the Lovecraft short story, the writers were definitely enjoying some creative freedom with the script. I have to say that I prefer to read the short story over watching this movie.
Yeah, "H. P. Lovecraft's Witch House" was not an overly impressive foray into the cosmic dread of Lovecraft's Mythos. Sure, the movie was watchable, but it was someone on the B movie side.
Now, I am a huge fan of the Mythos and the universe that H. P. Lovecraft created and that countless of authors have expanded upon in his wake. But this movie just wasn't particularly impressive.
My rating of "H. P. Lovecraft's Witch House" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Another "Adaption" of a H. P. Lovecraft short story, and once again the writers have no real idea what the story is about and therefore create a new story an attribute it to Lovecraft to get an audience.
They take a few salient points (student, math, other dimensions, stolen children) and write a story.
This story has a female lead. She is working on the principle that right mathematics and geometry can create a portal to other detentions. Because an ex is seeking to get her, her professor sends her to a remote house for her safety. This of coarse puts her right in the sights of an occult group seeking to resurrect a long dead witch.
The reminder of the film is a collection of events to bring this about.
Save your tine and read the original H. P. Lovecraft.

A movie lensed to cash in on the marquee value of H. P. Lovecraft's name, this Indiana curiosity has its strengths. Unfortunately, those don't include competent acting or a coherent script. Filmed in a historic 19th century house, the story concerns a grad student who has moved to said house to avoid an abusive ex. She's writing a thesis on geometry somehow providing the doorway to another dimension, or something. The film kicks into high gear when said student pierces this other realm. Fever dream sequences of Satanists and witches cavorting naked in occult rituals abound, which seem to be the director's strong suit. Murder and mayhem ensue. There's probably some half-baked message about female empowerment in here, but it's lost in the bad acting, wild occult rituals, and gore. Just enough here to hold your interest.
Man, real poor writing left green actors stranded! Im not sure why alot of movies are getting made with bad sound as well. The sound in this movie is real bad. I was up & down on the volue button the entire time!
Lady goes & stays at a large house, oh like 3 folks live there and the only availanle room is the attic? Ok. So she is researching portholes and how geometry facors into it. From there the story line unfolds like LSD. Half assed plot, scenes are all over the place, at times unrelated, as though the movie is about randon visuals.
There is some very nice camera work, the location is nice. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good here.
Directors & Producers might consider having an impartial outsider look at their dailys to offer input. Clearly this is another example of how ego blinds a person.

- QuizAlice's mathematical research into other dimensions includes the "Witch of Agnesi" (Versiera di Agnesi), a graphical curve, whose name arises (fortuitously for the film's subject matter) from a mistranslation of 'versiera' (witch, she-devil), which has the same spelling as the word for a rope used to move a sail.
- Curiosità sui creditiPre-credits title card: "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of a black sea of the infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far." - H.P. Lovecraft
