6.2/10. Watchable.

Gen Z comedy horror movie. 4 dumb and not that likeable characters are live streaming inside a house in which a satanic cult killed people. On the screen, tenths of comments are flooding it, creating a messy and chaotic viewing/sighting.

If what i am saying bothers you, don't watch it, you're not gonna like it. I am in my 40's and i found it funny at times. It was not so easy to watch will all those comments and the shaky camera but i enjoyed it, i would say even that some comments were hilarious. Characters were dumb but not annoyingly dumb, at least for me. On the contrary, as the movie was progressing, i started to like them.

Acting was not great but i have watched way worse young actors in 20's movies. It was passable.

So, i think it was a fun ride. Lower your expectations because this is definitely not a 10/10, 9/10 neither a 8/10 movie and you will probably enjoy it as well.

Big Fun for Spooky Season

Horror Comedies for the win! If you want something to watch that will keep the Halloween vibes strong without making you pee yourself - for gentle Halloween lovers like myself - this is the right speed. Comedy is the strong suit of this film and that's not a complaint - this film kept me entertained in the theater and will tickle your scary/funny bone at home too. The subject matter is timely and the actors nail their shallow/likes-obsessed characters in a way that will have you rooting for their demise. Rent or buy, you won't be disappointed! Go get the popcorn and take a chance on #chadgetstheaxe.

Watchable

I put this on not expecting a lot from it to be honest and wasn't sure if I would even make my way through it or I would end up turning it off. I was actually surprised that it was OK and watchable even though the acting wasn't great especially Chad himself. The whole livestream and people commenting as it's all happening is a good idea considering its how life really is. I just wish the ending had cleared things up a bit more but never mind. The whole idea was good but just needed better actors and a better ending but was better than I expected and have watched and turned off worse. Could have been more gruesome but was good for some jumpy moments.

A likable found-footage comedy but does have some issues

Conducting a massive livestream, a social media influencer and his friends decide to use the occasion to host a massive collaboration with everyone involved in the event, but when they realize the location chosen might have more to say about letting it go down must race to get out of the house alive.

There was quite a lot to like with this one. One of the main aspects of this one is the whole setup and approach of the whole livestream where everything takes place. The idea of using the first half to get to know the team and what they're trying to do with the whole event also getting to know the backstory of the residential house where it's being filmed. This all comes off quite nicely to get the group's relationships established and the reason for them to be there broadcasting is that it serves well to provide the groundwork for the terror to come once they finally get there. The inability to determine what's real or a prank makes a lot of the encounters around the house have a real sense of danger that gets explored rather nicely with the multifaceted approach switching between streams and screens to show what's going on. This brings about some genuinely chilling moments showing what's going on at the house where a series of nice twists that take place here bring about a slasher villain and a cult which gives this one quite a lot to like. This one doesn't have too much wrong with it. Among its biggest drawbacks is the fact that there's not much here that's original or unique involving the presentation. Once again featuring a line-up of irritating and annoying social media types that spend their day posting video clips of themselves online and just generally acting in a rather unappealing manner over how to document every second of their lives, it's quite easy to find yourself burnt out on the group rather quickly as their antics can easily come off the opposite as it's intended. Rather than being endearing to the climate of the day, those who are not entertained by this type of character will find the group to be beyond irritating to have to spend the time it does here trying to be funny or entertaining since everyone acts like the same annoying figure without fail. The approach here with tons of screen interfaces and social media interactions that are part of the film doesn't leave it much better, really being the main factors to bring this one down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

Weak "Live Streaming" film. Don't Bother Watching

#ChadGettheAxe is an attempt at found footage without it having to be found. Instead, they are streaming live when they go to a house reportedly owned by a satanic cult, and murders took place there.

First, all the characters are annoying and irritating. They fit perfectly into the standard stereotypes of younger 20s seeking fame and followers on their streaming channels. At the house, there are a few strange things that happen, and then someone starts attacking them one by one. Oh, and for fun's sake, they start streaming the streamers as they stalk them.

So plot is minimal. Characters are overall annoying. And they don't make the smartest choices. There are no real.

Glasgow Frightfest Review

Was fortunate enough to have watched this at Glasgow Frightfest 2023. What a great "found footage" film. Really funny moments in here, had an absolute blast watching with a massive audience, who were laughing and cheering throughout. Cast were all on-point, and the live-stream "comments" that popped up throughout the film added to the experience with recurring commenters developing hilarious and unique personalities . If you like A24 high-art horror or want something genuinely terrifying, this might not be for you, but if you want a really fun, creepy, easy watch - don't sleep on #chadgetstheaxe.

Do not waste your time

As a fan of horror, you learn over time that a 6 for a horror movie is sometimes a 7 or 8 when being viewed by an audience that appreciates or grew up with horror movies. I have seen dozens of movies I loved that on this platform were rated in the 5s or even 4s which early on confused me, but as you watch and watch you come to realize that certain media is held to different standard, just like how unimaginative superhero movies get 7s but all in all suck. When I saw a 6.5 for a found footage horror movie I was very exited, as movies I loved in the genre had rarely broken a 6/10 in the past, but what i got was some stupid horribly acted zoomer influenced bull that had almost no entertaining moments and actually 0 scary moments. The fact that this has or had a 100% on rotten tomatoes is just incomprehensible to me, there was almost nothing enjoyable about this movie, and almost shows how disenfranchised "cristics" are. I can't think of the name but a foreign film did the same premise 100x better (I think it was korean but had the same live feed premise just done without every character acting like an uglier Jake paul) and even that film was a 6.5 at best. Horrid acting, terrible writing, feels like a 49 year old wrote this with help from his 16 year old social media obsessed daughter, don't waste your time. It's honestly probably a 2 or a 3 out of 10 but giving it a 1 so horror fans don't get tricked the way I was into thinking this isn't a huge lazy piece of dooky.

Not the Worst but Certainly not the Best.

I am convinced that the 10 ratings on here are from family members, the actors or anyone who worked on this movie. Anywho, this movie is definitely based on the premise of how obsessed we are with social media and how desensitized society has become to horror. I actually liked the plot of the movie however the downfall was the acting of some of the characters. But when you think about it, that how some of these "influencers" - every aspect of their lives have to be broadcasted in order to get views and popularity. With that mindset, the characters made some really dumb a$$ decisions/actions during the movie.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, the location was good as I've been to Louisiana and seeing swamps and the "spookiness" of the house was very realistic to me. However it wasn't scary enough for me. I did have a few scares (2-3) but that was about it. The script could've been developed a little more and a few better actors would've made me give this movie a 7. But since this movie was on Tubi and YouTube, I wasn't expecting much and I was right.

#chadgetstheaxe

#chadgetstheaxe is really fun, smart horror comedy that offers lots of scares, lots of laughs, and lots to think about when it comes to social media and influencer culture. What I really appreciate though is that the social commentary is done in a way that is entertaining and clever without being overly earnest. The characters are all great and you unexpectedly end up being invested in all of them, the influencers' "fans" included. The movie is a continuous livestream making the fans ever-present through their live comments, which adds a lot of entertainment, but also makes you realize that the fans are also like villains in their own right. There are lots of unexpected twists and it's not overly gory, so it's still a good watch for people who might typically shy away from horror movies.

I would highly recommend.

Brilliant Modern Horror Comedy

Great story, very funny, with something interesting to say about internet culture, and it actually manages to make mundane modern tech scary.

If you've been looking for a fresh approach to the found footage horror genre this is it. Influencers are the perfect characters for a horror movie, of course they have to keep filming, of course they have to keep pushing their luck - view count comes first!

Unusually for a horror film every twist and turn feels earned and logical, you might not do it but these characters definitely would.

Highly recommended for any horror comedy fans, you won't be disappointed.

Unexpected, Delightful and Thought Provoking

Prepare to be both terrified and entertained by the darkly hilarious horror flick, '#ChadGetsTheAx.' This film ingeniously delves into the unnerving depths to which our generation will plunge, all in the pursuit of internet stardom. With a cleverly spun narrative, it brilliantly explores how the relentless chase for likes, views, and streaming numbers has unwittingly ensnared Gen Z into a desperate need for one-sided connections with online strangers.

But fear not, amidst the spine-tingling terror, emerges the effervescent Taneisha Figueroa, who shines as a beacon of freshness in this predominantly male cast. Her character is a delightful blend of fun, quirk, and relatability, striking a chord with audiences as she unapologetically embraces her human flaws. With finesse, Figueroa flawlessly navigates the challenges of being both an internet sensation and a compassionate soul, creating a captivating performance that lingers even after the credits roll.

In a cinematic landscape overrun by rehashed tropes, '#ChadGetsTheAx' cuts through the noise with its unique blend of dark comedy and horror, shedding light on the eerie realities of our digital age. A rollercoaster of emotions that's not to be missed!

LOVED it

#chadgetstheaxe was incredible!! It did a perfect job combining horror and comedy and kept me on my toes the whole movie. Definitely a great movie to watch with friends. It's realistic enough to make you feel like it really could be happening to you and the people you're watching with. And the way that the movie was shot through the view of a phone also adds to the realistic feel. It's a unique take on the way that social media occupies so much of our attention span, that sometimes we don't even realize what's happening around us. I highly recommend watching #chadgetstheaxe as soon as you can!!

So good! So fun!

This is such a great and creative film. Captures a classic style of genre storytelling, but in a new modern way that's true to a new generation. Highly recomend. Reminded me of "Blair Witch" in style, but with the comedy of the first "Scream". I would compare it to Cabin in the Woods as well in terms of being self aware and its comedic use of classic horror ttropes. If you're a horror or comedy fan, or like me, often get lost in the wormhole that is Instagram and YouTube, then you're going to get a kick out of watch #Chadgetstheaxe. The short it's based on is super fun as well. So check that out too.

What is a YEET

Movies come in genres and sub-genres, but this carves out a sub-sub-genre nicely. For that reason alone I have to give it a bonus point.

The cringe is rough to get past, but once the meat of the thing gets going, the ride is entertaining. About as much subtly as the rubber blade of the namesake chopping stick, the satire doesn't take itself seriously, nor should it. It doesn't take an active imagination to create a scenario where Gen Z streamers find themselves considering whether all the time and energy they pour into their online persona is really worth it; so they don't go out of their way and that's the right call. Instead, they build the character a story arc that's about as compelling as you'd get from an early 2000's SyFy channel original. The unexpected comedy from the comments section is constantly running on the side, and without it I imagine the film would flop.

But again, they did something that could've been so much worse if you just read it on paper... not that it's great, but... ok honestly don't even know how or why this worked for me but it did.

Boiled down to, "Is it entertaining?" Yes.

Best horror comedy

This film will have you scared and laughing at the same time. It's a realistic take on what it'd look like if a streamer was at a haunted house. It's like if Blair Witch Project was a comedy but on a streamers platform. Everyone was perfectly casted and just really well done. Even your friends who can't watch horror will enjoy this movie. There are some jump scares but you will be laughing the next second so no fear. It's a great movie to watch with your friends. Having watched the short, I couldn't imagine the movie version being better but it was a pleasant surprise to see it was just as good if not better.

Fresh, Sharp, and Scary!

This movie found a perfect blend of constant humor, surprising scares, and social commentary that doesn't bash you over the head. I highly recommend this one to horror lovers and horror newbies alike! It's a fun ride from beginning to end.

There's something about the acting that feels deeply authentic, even while highlighting obnoxious, performative influencer behavior. You get the sense that there is depth to these characters, and though you swear you hate them at the beginning, you start to see the cracks in the facade and the sad desperation behind social media stardom. The live-chat feature is a character of its own, which is executed spectacularly, and demands a re-watch!

The Best Logan Paul parody film.

Honestly The story Is what you expect to compare to Logan Paul's forest video. Flipped it around in it's creative way. Chad It's one of the It's a very interesting character for a douche tuber. The Swamp Manor Is a perfect location for the theme they're looking for.

Overall 8 out of 10 stars a post Modern Found footage horror. That Parodies Logan Paul's Infamous videos.
