    • Quiz
      The show uses backwards messages, riddles, and a variety of codes and cryptograms for viewers to crack in order to uncover secret messages. These messages can be found in plain sight at the end of the credits in every episode and hidden throughout the actual episodes and usually use the atbash, caesar or vignere cipher. Sometimes the messages can be decoded into something comical, but other times it will be something more serious that will reveal hints and important clues for future episodes or even extra lore on the story and characters. According to Alex Hirsch, the codes for every episode are written out by him and inserted into the episode at the last minute.

      Throughout the series, the Dinosaur Skull's (Probably a Tyrannosaurus skull) Fenestra (Hole in front of the eye hole) keeps changing shape along with its location on the skull.

    Great show for broad range of ages

    Very few shows have the capacity to entertain 8 and 10 year old girls a 13 year old boy and their 27 year old woman. Like the Shrek movies it has humor for youngsters and a stealthy adult humor. Definitely has elements from many cartoon predecessors and often times will ground a plot on a real life issue. My little cousins love it and when they found out I was watching gravity falls at home they flipped out. Now when I go visit we will sometimes watch on episode from the DVR. I literally can't stand most Disney programming but the style and creativity of this show caught my eye one day channel flipping. It is worth checking out and you will most likely be extremely surprised.
