Blind Intersections

This movie suggests that things are connected. Even strangers like India, Marwan and Nour are affected by what happens to each other although there's a trigger that initiates this chain reaction. What happens is the opposite of synchronicity. Some people might call what happens to them as fate or random events. Still, what happens to the main characters is interesting.

Great acting from young Alae Hamond who mirrors the angst of a young boy growing up in challenging circumstances. Ghilda Nouri is also convincing as Nour who struggles to find practical solutions to her problems as a recently orphaned student who is left to care for a grandmom.

This Lebanese film has character and depth. It's worth watching for its message on life.

I went to watch Ossit Sawane or blind intersections thinking that it's gonna be one of those Lebanese movies talking about sectarianism or romanticizing the Lebanese civil war. I was caught by the movie from the beginning till the the end. For me it was really unexpected. The stories, the successions of the events, and the unexpected link between them was confusing some times but worth to wait till the end. Even the actors were not over acting which is something you have to praise in a Lebanese movie. The movie exposes the harsh reality that is underlying our lives. While we live keeping up with consumerism and polished social expectations, there are many people striving with so little and perceived to be unworthy and deviant beings. Flesh is claimed, beaten, abused, dehumanized under the unconsciousness and lameness of what is deemed by many as modern and civilized. Unnoticed and marginalized individuals are boldly put forth in harsh explicit and suggestive scenes that would be difficult for the audience to ignore. I left the movie theater thinking of the amount of physical and symbolic violence that many people might be is laid upon many souls while their cries for help are muffled by loud noises in the city. The problems revealed in the movie are real, whether we like it or not, they exist. In few words, I encourage viewers to watch this movie. It gives the mind some matter to think about!

Lara Saba's feature debut poor attempts to be a "realistic portrayal" of Lebanese society. There are three principle characters: Nour, whose family dies in a car accident; Andia, a woman who can't come to terms with being childless; and Marwan, a boy with an alcoholic mother who abuses him.

The film suffers from the melodrama that all too often weakens Arab cinema. Inside of fully realized characters, you have exhausted Lebanese clichés translated to film. There is no originality in this film's script or its directing: look at any local film schools in Beirut, and you'll easily find several student films, stemming from the past several years, mirroring this exact visual and narrative style.

In short: Blind Intersections--or 39 Seconds--is a terribly written, terribly directed, terribly acted rip-off of Amores Perros.

one of the best Lebanese movie i ever saw!!! a must see!! finally a Lebanese movie that doesn't talk about war or religion but a movie that talks about the people who are struggling in their daily life!Beirut has never been seen in such a way and it's great! everything is good, from the actors, locations, directing, scenario... it is a realistic movie that shows aspects of Lebanon that are not easy to accept but so so real! Lebanese tend to hide themselves behind their fingers and this movie shows what no one wants to see or accept! i wanna congratulate the whole team for offering us 1h30 of real cinema and i cant wait for the next one.. keep going... one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. A movie that touches on life and how life works with a twist. The issues that people deal with and the blind eye we turn. The movie has a twist to it, needs focus and attention. It displays how daily events take place and how we chose to deal with them, the actions we take and where they lead us. The acting was great and realistic and so where the scenarios. The plot was real, touching and with a surprising twist of events. You will leave the movies with a better appreciation of your life. Overall, a well done movie that needs applauding. The entire movie was incredible. You won't be bored, simply a must watch movie. well worth your time, i promise
