The Pool

I am a cold water swimmer and saw this movie with my swimming crew, 'The Dendy Salt Sisters.' The cinematography alone is enough to captivate the viewer, but the way the stories that exist and evolve around the water felt like our own stories were being told. It felt emotional how connected to our experience swimming the stories were. The salt and sea is what is the star of the show here, just like it is in our lives.

The landscapes and perspectives shown through the lens were awe inspiring. It also demonstrates the power of place, space and community that anchors us all to a sense of purpose and belonging. Can not recommend the documentary enough.

The Pool is a visual feast. A stunning portrait of a Sydney Icon. At times meditative the pool is part visual poem, part portrait of a community of swimmers whose often daily use of the Icebergs pool gives them connection to one another and to the water. A highly saturated celebration of colour and movement the films images are wonderfully accompanied by a 60's style soundtrack. We meet some of the local characters and are given a glimpse into their own connection to The Pool and through those short stories we attain a wider understanding of the main character of the film which is undoubtedly The Pool :)
