Ranger had exceeded the challenge of making a film that had promised military action, but also in building immediate chemistry between characters in a small town. For an indie-film that had a limited budget, with emerging actors, the movie had to shine on the drama and plotline.
There was a unique rural local-charm that set the ambience of the movie, as well as a healthy dose of humor and nuanced seriousness as the plot evolved. The plot also explored themes and challenges relatable to veterans re-integrating into civilian life and their loved ones.
