Fate Accompli

I really enjoyed this film. I felt the performances of Mr. Sloan and Ms. Breen were flawless. The story is easy to follow and is actually quite simple. This was definitely a positive as I was able to focus on the characters and follow them on their journey. I was also impressed with how well the film was shot. Although a bit predictable, the story is still interesting and easy to follow. Art department, wardrobe and even hair and make up was also very well done. There may not be anything that will wow you with this film or knock you off your chair, but that is a positive in my book. Sometimes you watch films hoping to be inspired or left scratching your head the next morning, but sometimes you just want to watch and enjoy a good, solid movie. Fate Accompli does a great job of not trying to be something its not. That is refreshing, add in the strong performances and the spot on art choices, this film was an easy 10 for me.

Walt Sloan, the lead character, opens this film with no dialogue just him and the city around. During this time he draws a story so well with his subtle expression. Once the dialogue begins his skills shine and the story really takes off. Erin Breen matches his skills and we get a film that is not only watchable but a real treat of a storyline.

I also must commend the score. So well done and expressive. It was capped off by a hauntingly surreal vocal by Daniela Sloan. Watch the entire credits to catch this performance.

The plot is simple as Gabriel, who committed a murder, settles into a hotel room. A phone call to a call service brings the lovely Faye and what follows is just downright good story telling. It made me smile.

I recommend this film and congratulate its makers. Great job people.

After watching Fate Accompli, I have two comments. One is that this was a well filmed, well acted short and second is that I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. Walt Sloan and Erin Breen did a fabulous job. The story was well crafted and kept me guessing throughout. As a video producer, I would have liked a little more teasing before the ending. Maybe a little more cat and mouse between the two characters.

Overall the directing was very good, the lighting was excellent and the music was perfect. It is never easy to do a film, even a short film with just two characters and keep the viewer engaged but Fate Accompli does this well.

Well done, very well done. I got caught in the story and time went by like nothing. What is a call girl after all? A reflection, a mirror, a look into past deeds and present guilt. Gabriel made a call and got what he deserved - not what he asked for but what he deserved - and that projected a sense of justice, always comforting. Interesting plot and story line by Eric Neal, who also directed with elegance and precision. The cinematography is also a plus, with good angles and warm lighting. Very good acting: restrained, subtle, and - above all - convincing. I would see this movie again even just for the atmosphere, the music, the slow progression of fear. In summary: this short is a joy to watch.

The story was tight and efficient -- due to Eric Neal's great vision and broad cinematic scope.

Both Walt Sloan and Erin Breen deliver stellar performances.

The score is suspenseful, evoking an ominous mood throughout the entire story.

Cinematography, Lighting and Design are very sharp and detailed.

If anything is missing from this excellent short film, its Rod Serling's frenetic introduction, "...Next stop, The Twilight Zone".
