I stumbled upon this 2022 movie on YouTube by random chance, and figured I would check it out. And since I had never heard about it from any Capcom sources, I figured it must be a fan project. And truth be told, for the "Star Wars" franchise at least, there are some pretty amazing projects to be viewed on YouTube.
So of course I opted to give "Resident Evil: Reborn" a fair chance.
But I managed to not even sit through 10 minutes of this fan-made movie compiled from what appears to be in-game captured sequences before I gave up. It looked clunky and while I am certain that whomever worked on this probably put in a big effort, it just failed to capture my interest. It was the lack of character facial impressions, personalities and general wooden robot-like appearances all the characters had that made me give up on watching this.
And taking a look at the names of those listed for the various voice parts, this was definitely a home-spun project.
Sure, the graphics were fair, but then again if you rip off Capcom's graphics, why wouldn't it be?
Despite my big love of all things zombie and general love of "Resident Evil", this just didn't cut it. And it is definitely not something I will return to attempt watching a second time.
My rating of "Resident Evil: Reborn" lands on a generous two out of ten stars, solely for the effort that the people put into it.
