Vedaa

Few scenes seemed borrowed from Sairat. The script obviously doesn't seem which took 6 years to write (Nikkhil Advani & Aseem Arora).

The Idea of the plot was to show the state of places were Illegal Heads and untouchability was still followed.

The Direction lacked at some points, the action and fight direction were not forced but could have been better.

The fight scene after the unnecessary item song gave audience a boost to the seemingly dormant protagonist, although negligent of the evidence.

Abhishek Banerjee's performance for the negative role was commendable enough.

Sharvari also did good job.

John maintained his monotonous appearance throughout the film.

This movie had a great start and actually has you engaged up until the intermission. After that point it just seems like either the director changed or was totally confused and lost. The last 20-30 minutes were not needed and a waste of time. The message was clear and had good meaning but executed badly after the intermission.

Acting is decent by Sharavari and okay by the villain. John was good as he did justice to the role and action sequences. Too many songs, although I liked the Holi one, they were not needed. If the movie continued into with the 2nd half as it did in the first I would've given this a 9 star.

Directed by Nikhil Advani starring John Abraham , Sharvari Abhishek Banerjee in the lead role.

A social message narrated in a forced manner backed by Sharvari' s stellar performance. ⭐ ⭐ Half ⭐

Vedaa talks about a Dalit girl who is being abused by the upper caste & how she reacts & how Abhimanyu played by John plays a crucial role in her life is what the movie talks about.

The 1st half of the movie goes in a slow pace with some situations of atrocities done upon central character & her family whereas the 2nd half accelerates with fights, bullet firing, car chase. Climax could have been made better with logics.

Performance wise, Sharvari's stellar performance could be seen. She was living into the character of Vedaa. Abhishek Banerjee as antagonist. As i watched his performance in Stree 2 and Vedaa a shift of performance could be seen & he perfectly nailed the character in this movie. Nothing unique performance could be seen from John but for such kind of action to pull, he fits the slot.

Talking about the story telling, slow paced story telling could have been trimmed as one point we had been detached from the movie.

Overall a slow narrative thereby a missed opportunity for a success on a long weekend.

John Abraham, though mostly expressionless, surprisingly fits his character, where a lack of emotion is justified.

However, the film takes a nosedive when the typical, outdated one-man-army action scenes take over, dragging down the overall impact. This formulaic action, where one character single-handedly takes on entire forces, feels repetitive and unrealistic, making it hard to stay invested.

While the screenplay shows promise, the execution, especially with the action sequences, hurts the film's flow. Additionally, the background score fails to elevate the tense moments, adding to the overall drop in quality during the second half.

In summary, Vedaa starts strong but falters, particularly in its action scenes and sound design. It's a film with both high points and significant shortcomings, and I'd agree with a rating of around 6/10.

The movie sets out with the intention of being a serious drama, aiming to shed light on issues of class inequality and the struggle to protect the innocent from oppression. It has all the elements of a compelling story that could provoke thought and stir emotions. However, the execution veers drastically off course, transforming what should have been a powerful narrative into an unintended parody.

The focus quickly shifts to showcasing the hero as an almost cartoonish figure, capable of dodging hundreds of bullets with ease. This portrayal not only strains credibility but also trivializes the very issues the movie is supposed to highlight. Instead of a tense, realistic exploration of social injustice, we are presented with a protagonist who seems invincible to the point of absurdity.

As a result, the film's initial promise is lost, and what could have been a meaningful commentary on class struggles turns into a spectacle of exaggerated heroics. The serious themes are overshadowed by the outlandish action sequences, and the film ultimately fails to resonate on the emotional or intellectual levels it aspired to. In the end, it's hard to take the movie seriously, as it devolves from a potentially impactful drama into something more akin to a farcical action flick.
