Is There Something Going on at Home?

Filmmaker Jason Harney likes to expose things in law enforcement culture that are difficult to talk about or some people would rather ignore. He does so with the intention of bringing awareness and foster solutions. His latest dive here, "Is There Something Going on at Home?" is along that same line and has some extraordinary material for the viewer to wrestle with.

Harney's filmmaking expertise continues to impress and reveal that he's a natural. From the cinematography to the soundtrack, the scripting to the editing, and all of the technical aspects in between, Harney has has fully transformed himself from being a lifelong cop to being a well reviewed and award winning filmmaker.

"Is There Something Going on at Home?" explores the mental well being of some of our everyday heroes and forces the viewer to ask some tough questions. It also does a good job of bringing the lens of humanity upon our law enforcers. Highly recommend for everyone.

Many Law Enforcement families live the dynamics created by trauma on the job depicted in this film. Others outside law enforcement do not see it at all. It is an emotional film that introduces these issues and brings them to life. The emotional and relationship problems created by experienced trauma are openly discussed in this film. This film is an introductory step to bring awareness to public safety agencies and the world of the hidden and often tragic results that officers and their families experience through divorce, suicide, and other trauma related behaviors. This can be the beginning of a change in the culture of policing and the wellness of our officers.

This film touches on the forgotten side of the law enforcement profession, the families. The impact is rarely talked about and it's there and real. Is There Something Going on at Home tells the stories of officers who did the job and the downward emotional path their lives, and that of their spouses and children, took. The positive is that there is hope and they're each a shining example of that. A film that is open, honest, and raw at times but a must see. With tasteful and heartbreaking honesty, in this documentary by award winning filmmakers Jason Harney and Deborah Luis Ortiz veteran police officers and their families share their stories of the toll taken by the extreme and unrelenting stress of their careers. This film should be on the shelves of every police department and academy. It could save marriages, suffering and, ultimately, lives.

I've watched a lot of doc films. This one is definitely one of the best! Honest & raw, It gives viewers a shocking glimpse into the dark mental battles of our Law Enforcement families. The part no one hears about. You start to realize that this is not all "what they signed up for" and how ill prepared for these battles they truly are. One thinks they know about the ferocity of PTSD our officers face, but they may have NO IDEA of what the totality of these effects look like for the entire family. It's like watching a small fire consume an entire home!! VERY EYE OPENING!! God bless our nation's protectors & the families who share them with us! THANK U for making this film!
