Tipping Point Australia

I am watching tipping point now and the episode I'm watching is a repeat!!! Why? How do we ever get a chance to be a contestant if they are playing previous shows. I've always watched the English version and thought I'd love the chance to play if it ever came to Australia. This is very disappointing as I've lived in hope that one day my turn might come one day. I do love Tipping Point and get very excited for the winners when it happens for them. Everyone can do with a bit of luck in their lives. I dream of what I could do with $20000 should I win. Pay off some of my debts or buy a new car or help my kids out. Looks like I say goodbye to that now that they're doing reruns.

How to ruin a good thing ... go cheap!

Channel 9 are scrimping with this show and it's obvious. They've taken the fun out of it. No opportunity to steal other players discs at the end of Round 1, questions that ramble on too long and then not showing viewers what could have been, if the winner decides not to risk the lot for a shot at the $20K. That's one of the best parts.

I also think that the discs are smaller or the push on them by the machine is shorter. Discs are three deep not like the UK version where two deep means something will fall if they get a push. Are Channel 9 cheating a bit?

The show seems to be all about taking players into the bonus round where most of them lose.

It's great that the game is produced locally but they have modified it by removing or modifying aspects of the game that makes it fun to watch.

• At the end of round one, missed counters from incorrect answers are not recovered.

• In round 2, the questions are so long and protracted, most of the 30 seconds is lost on asking questions. I think the time should start at the end of the first question and when the time runs out during the last question, they should allow the player to answer it.

• In round 3, they ask only 2 questions per player instead of 3.

• In the final round there are 5 categories instead of 6
• My biggest peeve, if the player fails to drop the bonus counter and turns down the temptation offer, they don't play out the counters offered to see if the player made the right decision. I mean, seriously, isn't that the whole point of having the choice?

I think if the temptation offer was streamlined, they wouldn't have to waste so much time talking about it and they'd have 30 seconds at the end of the game to play the counters out.

Also, dragging out the games by repeating games. My theory is that it's a money saving tactic because they don't have to pay twice on a game that's already been paid out.

But what would I know? It's just one man's opinion.

A question in the cash builder round was ""What mythical creature takes its name from a Scottish lake". The contestant answered Loch Ness. Wrong! The answer is Nessie. Are there no adjudicators on this knock-off of the British show. No penalty round, no seeing what would happen if the contestant doesn't take the trade, fewer final round questions so they can squeeze in more as breaks, and whats with all the clapping every time someone answers a question and all the groaning whenever a counter drops in bad position. Also, hardly anyone who takes the jackpot temptation gets the big money. Greed at its worst! Have the British version ending where they are mor likely to get the $20,000.

An hour long show that rarely gives its contestants the big prize, which compared to other Australian game shows is not that much anyway. Contestants are more often than not tempted with forfeiting the few thousand dollars they've managed to get out of the machine in the hope of a few extra shots! Rarely does it convert into the big win. The fact that the show replaced Eddie's Hot Seat that gave away a lot of money, Channel 9 must have put this on as a cheaper option. I've not watched the British version of the show, so cannot compare, but Woodbridge's version is such a slow moving, low energy show - perhaps far more suited to the ABC. Leave it to Deal or No Deal, a 30 minute fast paced show that regularly gives away big amounts for feel good game show entertainment.
