This movie is phenomenal and is a total must watch for any fan of anime/animation. I give it an 8, and not higher, due to certain decisions that I'll explore below.
Plot/Pacing: I love this movie's plot so much. The buildup is absolutely masterful, and the development of Reze and Denji's relationship is done so well. I am so glad that MAPPA didn't race through the first part of the movie. I saw some people complain about the first half of the movie being too slow, and I just don't think those people understand how important buildup is to establish a connection with the characters. If you just want to watch flashy animation, then sure maybe its too slow, but if you're here to actually get invested in the world and the characters, then you'll love the first part of the movie.
Characters: Most of the characters are very well adapted to what I'd expect from the manga. Aki, Denji, Power, Beam, Angel are all done perfectly in my opinion. However, I feel like something is missing from both Reze and Makima. I feel like Makima is lacking that lurking creepy vibe that she gives off in the manga, and I feel like Reze was a bit too mellow for the events of the second half of the move. I personally wanted a bit more emotional range in her vocals during the fights and the beach scene. She felt too "light" in scenes where I remember reading her to be much more emotional.
Animation & Art: Amazing; The artstyle is a clear upgrade from season 1, and the animation is consistently jaw dropping. There were very few sequences that I thought could have been better.
Comedy: CSM is a manga that really aligns with my style of humor, and I think the movie does a much better job portraying it than what we had in season 1. However, there were some moments in the movie that seemed to gloss over really funny dialogue in a non-emphasized/passive way. Still though, this movie is very funny and its much better than 90% of typical anime humor.
Ending: Sadly this is the most disappointing part of the movie for me. It's my favorite scene in the entirety of part 1 of the manga, and I cant help but feel like they misdirected it. The tone of the scene is way less creepy/horrifying than it was in the manga. Makima's voice, the shots, the expressions, and the music are way too serene. I believe they made this decision to establish a sense of dissonance, but I dont think it worked. It just kind of loses the edge/impact that it could have had if they played more into the tone of horror that the manga had. Nonetheless, it is still a great ending despite this.
Overall, despite a few fumbles, this movie is downright amazing. It is definitely one of the best anime movies that I've ever seen, and it has me extremely excited for season 2 (which will cover the best arcs of the entire series).

It is what you expected it to be ... Pure fun.
Animation is lit the good ol Mappa is doing what it does best. First half is Emotion, second half is Action, Ending could have been different but they decided to close the movie there. Not that it make movie bad or anything it is still great and impactful. Can't wait for season 2.

MAPPA continues to exceed expectations with breathtaking animation. Visually, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc is cinematic in every sense. The contrast between soft, romantic lighting in the café scenes and the harsh, kinetic energy of the action sequences is striking. This visual juxtaposition mirrors the narrative duality-love and violence, tenderness and terror.
The transformation sequences, especially Reze's bomb form, are a stunning blend of body horror and elegance. The choreography during the fights-particularly the battle at the school and the waterlogged cityscape finale-are fluid, chaotic, and emotionally charged.
Background art deserves special mention. The everyday settings-dimly lit streets, empty classrooms, rainy alleys-evoke an eerie, melancholic mood. They ground the story in a familiar reality, making the supernatural elements even more jarring when they arrive.

At first, I wasn't into Chainsaw Man. I thought it was just another raunchy manga for teenage boys. But... after being moved by the movie "Look Back," I decided to rewatch the first anime season since it was by the same creator. That's when I learned about Himeno and Aki's backstory and Makima's conspiracy, and I got hooked.
Then, just one week later, I watched the movie "REZEarc" and ended up bawling my eyes out. That's when I truly understood: "This author is definitely the same one who made 'Look Back!'"
Chainsaw Man might seem like a typical action hero story, like Superman or Batman, at first glance. But it's actually the coming-of-age story of the protagonist, Denji. It's a human drama depicting the bonds, trust, betrayal, and disappointment within the various relationships that form during his growth. I think it's an emotionally stirring masterpiece.
I truly believe people who avoid watching this work just because it's labeled an action hero story are missing out.
I hope you'll ride this wave and connect with it, not just dismiss it as some raunchy anime for boys.

Great music, great animation, great everything. This is truly peak. This was worth the three years, sort of. I went to japan in time to actually see this movie, i didn't even know the release date in japan but i got to watch it and it was actually one of the best anime films i've ever watched, if not the best. The pacing works well for me atleast. This was probably one of the best anime adaptations of all time for me. I like kenshi yonezu's music here, he makes fire music, both the opening themes and the ending themes are fire and i like the choreography and animation, i want more of this, i want more like this, i give this a ten out of ten but i would give it an eleven if i could.

This movie delivers exactly what you'd expect from Chainsaw Man - sharp humor, bloody action, and just enough drama to keep it from being mindless. The fight scenes are brutal but fun, the jokes land, and the emotional bits around Reze actually hit the right note. Not flawless, but it never feels cheap or boring. A solid, entertaining ride that balances chaos with heart.
7/10.
7/10.
This movie is basically the continuation of the first season. Chainsaw Man is always pretty strong whenever it comes to unique concepts and character designs. Although, personally, I am not a big fan of the new art style changes here. It looks like the 2D characters are half-finished instead of fully blending with the background. It does resemble the original author's art style but it could've been better if they added more gradation rather than flat colors. I also noticed that this movie tend to experiment with many different approach on particular scenes. Still, it was a decent animation for a theater scale. My favorite part about this movie was the soundtrack. They were all amazing and on point.
As a non-manga reader, I found the plot alright but there was not much depth to it. Some characters like Kobeni appeared without adding much to the story. Perhaps, it was just a simple fanservice to Kobeni fans. Everything was pretty interesting until the aftermath where they just kind of resolved everything through a simple talk at the beach. There was a plot twist at the end so I guess that could cover the flaws in the writing. I also do not particularly enjoy anime with many fanservice, but I know that Chainsaw Man had been like this since the first season, so if you are a fan of that then watch this movie.

The Chainsaw Man: Reze arc should have been a turning point for the series, but the adaptation falls flat in almost every meaningful way. It starts off unbearably slow, with the first half dragging along at a snail's pace. Instead of building mystery around Reze or drawing the viewer deeper into her dynamic with Denji, the story meanders through empty scenes that feel padded out and pointless. By the time anything remotely interesting happens, the buildup has already killed any sense of tension.
The visuals, while flashy, are a perfect example of over-animation gone wrong. MAPPA throws fluid movement at everything, even the most mundane moments, and it ends up looking more like a demo reel for animators than a carefully crafted piece of storytelling. Every gesture is exaggerated, every scene oversold, until the impact of the actual action sequences gets diluted. It's exhausting to watch, not engaging.
Reze herself is a tragic character in the manga, but the anime handles her with no subtlety at all. The adaptation leans heavily on sexual tension and surface-level fan service, reducing her to just another "seductive love interest" instead of a layered figure. There's no emotional depth in how she's presented, just empty pandering dressed up as romance.
The soundtrack only makes matters worse. Instead of heightening emotion or giving the arc its own identity, the music feels out of place or bland to the point of being forgettable. In big fights, it's generic noise that could've been ripped from a royalty-free library, and in quieter moments it completely fails to add atmosphere. It drags the experience down rather than lifting it up.
Overall, this adaptation of the Reze arc is a huge disappointment. What could have been a powerful mix of action, tragedy, and intimacy ends up hollow, overproduced, and lifeless. With a boring first half, animation that tries way too hard, shallow fan service in place of genuine storytelling, and a soundtrack that actively hurts the viewing experience, it's hard to give this anything higher than a 3/10.

Pretty much what the comic has given us, but when you make a movie, some changes could make it better. Few moves as such has been made. So the first half moves a bit too fast, maybe saving budget for the massive violence we got later. And it's indeed massive and violent. But after watching it twice, it's the small imperfection that lingers. I mean it's supposed to be great, still Aki could've swinged faster when ambushing Bomb, and Bomb could've punched faster when attacking Beam in air. Some slow mo scenes chould be better as well. Then I remembered Chainsaw man is a cult, yeah, it's popular but not for everyone. And a cult movie as far as I can recall is never perfect. And I love it despite the imperfection. Remember the saying"it's so bad and it's soooo good"? This one is not bad and it's SOOOOOOOO good!!

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc delivers everything - stunning visuals, heartbreaking emotion, and unforgettable characters. The romance, betrayal, and tragedy hit with full force. The animation is breathtaking, truly peak cinema. MAPPA crafted a masterpiece, making this one of 2025's best and most emotional anime films.

Reze is just way too cute-her cuteness should be illegal.
As a Chainsaw Man fan, I went in expecting to enjoy the action scenes on the big screen, but it felt like the creators put the most effort into capturing her charm above all else. On top of that, the voice acting was outstanding. As a native Japanese speaker, I could fully appreciate the subtle shifts in tone and the nuances in her delivery that made her even more adorable.

This was one of the best adaptation arc I've seen the animation the fluidity the music, I absolutely love how mappa went all out with the animation absolutely phenomenal must watch!! And the ending was hard to process I stayed until the end credits you should really wait since studios usually sneck in special scenes.
I know what happened to the tv anime show's director, I know what the (Japanese) fans wanted, I know what had MAPPA done closed-door, I OBVIOUSLY know what happened to the art-style, yet somehow, surprisingly I know what happened to the characterization of the original characters from the anime. I'm no manga reader, so maybe I'm totally oblivious here, but it doesn't change the fact that I sensed something (or many things, rather) is not it.
The more I talk about it, the more I feel uneasy. So yeah, 7 from me, I guess.

Knew this is not as good as people expected when it didn't get much of a reaction from a relatively packed theatre. As someone who read the manga long before this, it lacks the cinematic feel I expected from this, it just felt like a really really long anime episode, strictly following the flow of the manga. Wish it could be more experimental in its choices. They could tinker with the pacing and flow here and there, make it feel more cohesive unlike the fragmented pace in the manga. I think they could also use some hard hitting punk-rockish music instead of using the generic electronic music here. It didn't dare to try new stuff. Tho the animation of the fights are quite colourful, nice and chaotic at points. They tried their best to recreate the fight as much as possible from just a few bits and pieces of manga panels.
Nice animation children's should enjoy. Watching three 3d was amazing and includes with adolby sound effect is good ... need to improve in action and dramatics .... making professionalism is complicated with character. Now it's going for climax was untouched for continuing the next part continuation .... children's and adults can enjoy with animation ... some mis leading in subtitles.

I enjoyed the movie overall but I don't like how they changed the season 1 director. Season 1 art style was perfect. This new art style is just too generic, season 1 genuinely felt like I was watching something special, but now that feeling is gone. I enjoyed the movie but I don't like how power wasn't in it. She is my favourite character so yeah.

Peak story telling, veteran quality animation best in the class music. Please go and watch it in the theaters... So can mappa continues the series. I love tatasuki fujimots works, read all of his mangas. Chainsaw man still has a long way to go and I'd love to witness the journey of denji so please prove it to mappa that it can actually be profitable for them and that they can continue the series with minimum amount of waiting period between every seasons and movies like jujutsu kaisen... It has much more potential than jujutsu kaisen.

Great adaptation of the manga, with cinematic additions that were so rewarding to watch in IMAX, and a stellar soundtrack! This was a perfect arc to adapt for a movie and they went all out for the animation. It was so enjoyable I saw it twice! I'm sure there are criticisms but based purely on entertainment value it's a 10/10!
