"The Beat Beneath My Feet" is an adorable film about finding your place in the world and re-finding it when tragedy strikes..... "Don't Hide" is the take home message and with Nicholas Galitzine at the helm even as a young teen acting in his first film I was captivated emotionally every minute. Every inch of the pain, loss, fear and ultimately the exhilation as he steps into the limelight and who he is meant to be.
My heart broke seeing the incredible Luke Perry OBM 💫 Such a class act who fit this part like a glove. A veteran actor who like Nic, resonates with the same heart and soul that reels you in, devastates you and then has you soaring.

If you have ever gone into a movie with low expectations and later left feeling surprised that it actually blew you away, that kind of movie for me was Beat Beneath my Feet. For the most part, I was incredibly impressed by the depth of the narrative and progression of the characters. Starring Nicholas Galitzine as Tom, the central character who is so socially inept that his only friend in his world is rock music. Unfortunately for Tom, his mother (who is played by Lisa Dillon) rejects this music because his estranged father was a former rock star who spent more time on tour than with their family. Another former rock star, Steve (played by Luke Perry) enters their lives and things start to change for both Tom and his Mother. Though the characters are broken and feel out casted in some way, they strike a bond that helps them escape their shells. When the story felt like it could lose my attention, it managed to pull me back in by adding short music videos, which served to express what Tom was feeling while simultaneously providing you with enjoyable music. For a movie revolving around music, this is an important quality to possess and Beat Beneath my Feet certainly delivered on this level as well as many other levels.
The rock comedy The Beat Beneath My Feet follows Tom (Nick Galtizine) as he tries to overcome the obstacles of his youth. Tom has dreams of competing in the local battle of the bands and becoming a famous rock star, but with his mother's objections from a failed relationship with Tom's rocker father, he must keep those dreams to himself. Tom and his mom get to meet his unruly downstairs neighbor, Steve (Luke Perry), after enduring multiple nights of blasting recorded guitar music. After this not so warm meeting, Tom is able to identify Steve as a former rock guitarist that was believed to be dead. Once he uncovers this information about his neighbor, Tom tries to use it as blackmail for guitar lessons. Though at first getting off to a rocky start, the two slowly form a close bond giving Tom the opportunity to find his voice both on and off the stage. The director (John Williams) is able to portray Tom's newfound voice in a unique way that instantly drew me in, and was one of my favorite aspects of the film. From the use of cartoon-like animation Williams creates music videos throughout the film that draw inspiration from Radiohead. I also read that Nick Galtizine sang all the songs performed in the movie himself, which was really impressive and made his performances in the film more genuine. From a great soundtrack to beautiful cinematography The Beat Beneath My Feet is a heartfelt coming of age drama that I highly recommend you give a watch.
I don't know why so many folks rated this as low as they did; I found it by accident, loved the story, acting, sound .... The soundtrack actually surprised and thrilled me!
Yes it is formulaic to a degree, but really, who cares?

Even though the story is cliche and you kind of know where the story is heading, it is simple and sweet! I like the relationship between Steve and Tom. Tom may be a nerd but he Knows how to pester and annoy an adult like a kid. Love this movie. It feels short! The good ending was rather abrupt tho!!
