Great first episode trying a totally different approach to a comedy show. Jerry Seinfeld is a bit of a jerk. Would have been better without him. Seinfeld couldn't stand not being the center of attention and was disruptive. Other guests were obviously intimidated by the big star comedian and didn't get their opportunity to shine. John will adjust and I expect every show to improve. Still the show moved along nicely. The prerecorded segments were the best and John's introductory monologue shined. The call ins had their moments but the general public isn't always great story tellers. Can't wait for more. My style of humor for sure.
What a refreshing show! In my opinion the talkshow format has sadly been played out for a while. Modern talk shows lack the spontaneity and natural feel of what made people like Letterman so great back in the day. John has revived that spirit in his show and it is a joy to watch! Art meets comedy meets absurdism meets genuinely interesting conversation. I hope the show is rebooted, and I would love to see him take it nationwide. As a biased Chicago resident, it would be amazing to see John do a Chicago run!!
Kudos to Netflix for putting this on and kudos to the producers and writers who contributed to this amazingly quirky piece of work!

This show is a bit crazy, but I think that is why I like it. It's perfect for a one week show, and I love that it is live, because the craziness makes a lot more sense. I am not a huge fan of Mullaney stand up but I like this show. John has good guests and pretty good segments. It seems like they do this for the Netflix is a Joke week so they have a lot of comedians at the ready. The topic of the show works out very well. I love the live phone calls and that John always asks what type of car they drive. It's all dumb but that is usually what good comedy is. I hope they continue to do these shows annually because it's just enough.
All the negative or confused reviewers are looking for something that they're not supposed to find: a consistent format.
The show is live, it's meant to be random, fun and slightly imperfect - almost like humans used to be. The phone calls and discussion leave so much room for improv - that's where the fun is, that's where the thrill is. We're all experiencing the show together, it's intimate, it's real, it's not overly polished or saturated like a pre-recorded nightly talk-show that has 5 hours to edit their episode before it airs.
This is a show for the people who go to a concert but leave their cellphone in their pocket and enjoy the moment.

This show feels like a nyquil fueled dream that you barely remember and leaves you with feelings of longing, giddiness and slight overwhelm, and you can't exactly pinpoint why. The combination of strong satirical bits, awkwardness, nonsensical/seemingly unconnected interviews with L. A. natives, set dressing and randomly assorted celebrities (that vary in popularity depending on the decade) all come together to make something that feels very chaotic yet very charming and funny.
I personally would love to hear what the goal of this show was when it was being thought up, so that I could get a better understanding of the overall vision. But in spite of a lot of confusion, I absolutely adore this limited time live show. In my opinion, this show captures the unspecific, not talked about, awkward parts of life that everyone is influenced by.
It very well could be that I'm reading deeper meaning within something that is just nonsense and funny for no specific reason. Regardless, I've been laughing much more than I usually do at online entertainment and for some reason the chaos, craziness and nonsense of the show make sense to me and (in a peculiar way) make me feel seen.
It's an odd ball, but I honestly love it in a way that an owner loves their weird mannered and weird looking dog.
Definitely worth a watch.
