Boxer tells the story of a young boy with a troubled upbringing, dominated by his abusive father. Despite his difficult childhood, the boy excels in chemistry, a talent that takes a backseat after his father's death when he transitions into the world of boxing. The movie captures his rise to fame, with Eryk Kulm delivering an outstanding performance as the protagonist. His portrayal of a boxer grappling with fame and internal demons is both powerful and nuanced.
The boxing scenes, while good, could have been more polished. Some moments lacked the intensity that makes boxing films truly stand out. Nevertheless, the story holds its own, particularly as it touches on the emotional and cultural realities of Polish sportsmen seeking opportunities abroad. While this is often viewed as a loss for the country, Boxer frames it as a narrative of triumph.
The movie is consistently engaging, though it is occasionally interrupted by a few boring scenes every 15-20 minutes, which slightly disrupt the overall flow. Despite these small hiccups, Boxer is an entertaining film that offers a compelling blend of personal struggle, sports, and Polish cultural commentary.

As a non Polish speaker I really enjoyed this movie with subtitles. It was one of the rare movies that was interesting from beginning to end! The way the story came out kept me always on the edge of my seat! Highly recommended & I would love for more movies like this from a Polish film perspective. I felt that also it was uniquely filmed & it left me with a strong feeling! As someone who loves sports movies I can say this isn't limited to just sports. The theme goes far deeper with relationships, love, deep emotion, and the human struggle! The rawness and nothing to hold back attitude of the movie was simply amazing! And lastly I want to say the actors did a fantastic job especially the leading roles! Makes me interested in the Polish movie industry which I didn't expect. Just watcher this because I saw it from Netflix and was left happily surprised with the movie!
Who also had an uncle who was a coach, was also a Polish champion, emigrated at a similar time and had a similar relationship with his wife. At the beginning of his emigration he also couldn't find a job and when he did fight they gave him weak opponents (supposedly). His private life was also similar to the film (he broke up with his wife and later got back together) and eventually he also returned to Poland. Apparently he didn't agree for the film to be his biography because he wouldn't have come out well in it, but it's hard to believe that the scriptwriters didn't communicate with him. I think this is the true story of boxing in Germany then and maybe now.
As a Turkish person I loved this movie since we have similar cultures and lives when it comes to sport Boxing. In Turkish there is a saying Felek Çember which means someone reaching to victory in his career, coming from a poor and hard difficult life. Since Football is the only professional sport in worldwide Amateur sports needs more effort, good fortune and discipline. Especially if it is a personal sport instead of a team sport it is all about you,the person himself. It is fair to say unless you get a medal in Olympics at sports such Boxing or wrestling it is really hard to make a career. Anyway this movie tells the rise of a poor person from bottom to Top and I can guarantee that You will love the movie.
Boxer (2024) is really nice movie specially if you love sports, family category movie. The main character is really mad for his dream to be fullfil. I really hated the nude scene and s*x scene! I would recommend it to my any relatives but fo these unnecessary scene I am really disappointed! I do not know if people's really love to see some nude scene at the movie and they get happy! It is really bad for me at least. I do not like these things to be added in this category films. By the way the was really good except my complained part. Except complained i would give it more stars!
