The Secret of the Goldsmith is a well-directed and written film adaptation by Olga Osorio. In this rendition, certain elements of the novel are modified to give it a modern feel. Mario Casas and Michelle Jenner star in this romantic drama set in different eras, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ela Barceló. It is set in 1999, a goldsmith (Mario Casas) revisits his hometown, triggering memories of his summer love affair with a seamstress 25 years prior, she's called Celia (Michelle Jenner). Despite their age gap, he vows to rewrite their story but struggles to find her upon his return. Someday in the past, he will find her...From the moment he saw her face, he knew. He would find her again. Somehow... someday... in the past. Beyond fantasy. Beyond obsession. Beyond time itself... he will find her. He sacrificed life in the present... to find love in the past.
A classy film with a touching love story , emotion, fantastic drama and extreme sensibility . It is a moving story of "Amor Fou" with attractive images and fantastic elements. The Goldsmith's secret (2025) has an enjoyable and interesting script written by director Olga Osorio herself and Elia Barceló based on her own novel. A compelling period piece in which stands out the terrific performances from the stunning main cast. This is a story about nostalgia, the choices made, true love, and above all, how one learns to love. This is very reminiscent of the now classic film "Somewhere in Time" (1980) by Jeannot Szwarc stars Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour.
Mario Casas stars as a goldsmith trapped in a past romance who returns to his hometown in search of a youthful love, the one that changed his life forever. He gives an adequate, if somewhat affected, performance in his usual style. The cast is completed by Zoe Bonafonte (El 47), and Enzo Oliver in his first feature film. And alongside the already veteran in the art of acting Michelle Jenner who since her great television success 'Isabel' has developed a lustrous film career.
In the film, the colorful and brilliant photography by cameraman Marc Miró stands out above all else, accompanied by a well-set, polished stage. Along with a sensitive and deeply engaging score by Lau Nau that touches the heart. The motion picture was appropriately and sensitively directed by Olga Osorio, en her second feature film. Her movie debut was Jump ! (2023), and she previously shorts and wrote and produced other stories. Rating: 6.5/10. Better than average. The picture will appeal to Mario Casas and Michelle Jenner fans.
