I would recommend everyone to watch this movie. I was very moved by this movie, which exposes an unknown history. On this sea, both the Chinese and the British have shown solidarity and tenacity. It's the embodiment of internationalism. I am very happy to have such a movie in this era. On top of that, the picture and sound of the movie are undeniably good, making it perfect to watch in the cinema.

Grateful that I managed to catch this movie while I'm in China for holiday. The overall presentation of the movie was great! The soundscape, the different scenes, the plot, the relationship and struggle between the different characters.

After the whole movie, I left the theatre with a heavy heart but at the same time, thankful that the fishermen on Dongji Island have lend a hand to the POW from British.

Zhu Yilong performance is layered - combining the rugged courage of a warrior with the tender love and protection for his younger brother - moving audiences deeply.

Dongji Rescue's epic portrayal of this heart wrenching true story of human kindness must not be missed. From the opening scene until the ending credits I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions. Whilst early on there are a handful of light hearted moments these were soon forgotten as the story progressed, and by the time it had ended I found myself reaching for a tissue to wipe away the tears. The bravery, heroism, self sacrifice, and human kindness displayed by the Chinese people of Dongji Island is a lesson on how we should all live our lives. I can honestly say that this is a story that the world needed to hear, and is an absolute movie making masterpiece, a must see.
